When Nathan overheard Frida's conversation with Danny, he already guessed that the cunning man was trying to cheat her.
In truth, Nathan was the one who arranged for Frida to be Penny's bodyguard. That was why he could not just stand by and watch as she was taken for a fool.
There was no way he could just ignore the fact that Danny was impersonating him as her savior either.
Sending Frida a smile, Nathan answered, "I couldn't help but overhear you two talking. You said this fatty over here intervened and rescued you during the fight? Heh. Don't be so stupid. He can't even walk a hundred meters without panting. As if he would have the ability to save you!"
Infuriated, Frida shouted, "Don't you judge a book by its cover! Danny may look ordinary but he's anything but! He has hidden powers you can't even imagine!"
Examining the obese body of the janitor, Nathan chuckled. "You mean how he looks very earnest but is actually as cunning as they come?"
Danny had been shocked to bump into Nathan and Penny here. After all, he was the chief adviser of Cross Group while she was the president and chairman.
One sentence from either of them and he would be fired just like that!
However, he calmed down a few moments later.
He was but a mere janitor at Cross Group, with a pitiful salary.
If he were able to obtain Frida's trust, get her to buy him branded clothing or cars -maybe even sleep with him, that would be more than enough for him.
What did it matter if he offended Nathan and Penny or lost his job if the tradeoff was a beautiful woman who was willing to give him everything?Such thoughts bolstered his courage.
Plastering a grim expression on his face, he rumbled at Nathan in displeasure, "Nathan Cross, show some respect!”
Nathan nodded and answered, "Sure! You said you saved Frida which means you're quite skilled, right?"
