Nathan and Colin walked to the rented house. It was the worst house around as it was old and shabby. The rent should be around two hundred a month.
Besides that, Nathan saw a lot of trash inside the house through the window. It seemed like a vagrant was living here!
Nathan's frown deepened. "Are you sure Instructor Ronan lives here?”
Colin answered in a tiny voice, "Yes, Sir!"
Right then, an old man who happened to pass by spotted them. He studied them carefully before asking, "Are you here to look for Ronan the Cripple?"
Ronan the Cripple?
Suddenly, Nathan recalled Instructor Ronan hurt his right leg before his retirement. He couldn't walk properly because of that injury.
Nathan nodded. "Yes. Do you know where he is now?"
The old man pointed ahead. "He is working at the supermarket as a mover these few days. Try your luck there."
Soon, Nathan and Colin arrived at the only supermarket in the ghetto. It wasn't even a supermarket, but a convenience store that was slightly bigger.
There was an old man in tattered clothes sitting at a table next to the supermarket.
He had a plate of mac and cheese and a bottle of cheap liquor on the table with some snacks on the side. It was obvious he was going to eat his lunch after working hard.
However, he was holding the bottle of liquor in his hand as he stared at a little girl playing not far away.
Then, a bitter smile appeared on his face.
Right then, someone spoke to him. "I heard that if someone smiles without reason, he might either be too bored or too miserable."
The old man raised his head at those words.
He saw a tall man whose eyes twinkled like stars with a well-built subordinate by his side.
That man was Nathan.
The old man's eyes grew wide. His initial expression of shock turned to excitement. "Y-You're Nathan Cross!"
