With mixed feelings, Lucifer asked, "An opportunity? What do you mean?"
Nathan explained, "Aren't you always envious of me? Didn't you always refuse to obey me and wish to be the General of the North? Now I'm giving you an opportunity to prove yourself. We'll have a straight fight. If you win, I'll allow you to bring Sky back unconditionally; if you lose, you and your men must surrender immediately!"
Lucifer stared at Nathan in disbelief.
Why would Nathan Cross want to fight me head-to-head?
After all, Nathan could hide behind the troops of Bossania and command his helicopters and tanks.
Fighters from the Leeroy family were stunned as well.
They finally realized that the general really didn't wish to slaughter them because they were his comrades!
Hence, many of them began to feel ashamed of themselves as they were totally incomparable to the general, who was considering the big picture.
Lucifer also noticed that his men had subconsciously been convinced by Nathan.
He couldn't help but feel surprised. He was now impressed by Nathan's wits in addition to his martial arts skills.
After all, his subordinates almost wanted to surrender immediately after listening to Nathan's poignant remarks.
Lucifer knew he now had no choice but to accept Nathan's challenge!
If he refused to accept Nathan's challenge, his subordinates would have the impression that Nathan values their lives more than himself. In that case, he feared they would all betray him.
After taking a deep breath, Lucifer met Nathan's eyes and said slowly, "Alright, I accept your proposal. Let's do it the old-fashioned way and resolve this with a fight between us."
Deep in Lucifer's heart, he still believed that he would survive his crisis once he brought Sky back.
