Everyone present looked directly at him.
However, Nathan maintained his impassive expression. Calmly, he lit a military-provisioned cigarette and took a drag. “Valois,” said Nathan coldly. “That's not how you beat someone up.”
Upon hearing this, Valois and the others were stunned.
Nathan looked at the weakened girl who lay on the ground, covered with blood. She appeared to be severely hurt and had difficulty breathing. However, Phoebe did not suffer fatal injuries. It was only a broken nose.
In an indifferent tone, Nathan said, “Don't play games with me.” “In fact, if you really wanted to beat her up, one punch would suffice.” “Colin, come here.” Nathan gestured at the man who stood behind him.
The burly Colin stepped out. In his deep voice, he responded. “Yes, General.”
Colin's stature was terrifying to behold. Having earned his title as a King of Warriors, a single punch from him was enough to break through concrete. If he punched Phoebe, that was all it would take to send her to her death.
She screamed with fright in an instant.
Valois and Vadim's expressions also changed very drastically. They looked absolutely mortified.
Valois and his men stopped Colin. “You wouldn't dare.”
Vadim had also brought along a few powerful fighters and a dozen or so guards to dissuade him. “General, I'd advise caution.”
Nathan looked at everyone present and asked, “I'm going to arrest her now. Do you have the balls to stop me?”
Valois was about to be driven mad with anger. “Nathan, let me remind you that you are not within your own territory. If you want to arrest my niece, you still need General Normandy's approval.”
Nathan looked at Vadim. “Is that what you think too?”
Vadim's rank was a far cry from Nathan's. Under his watchful gaze, Vadim could feel the immense pressure that was laid upon him at that moment.
However, the thought of repaying the favor he owed Phoebe's father made his confidence return. He promised he would do everything in his power, after all.
He bit the bullet and said, “General Cross, this woman is the beloved daughter of my mentor. I can't just look the other way.”
“All I ask is that you spare her life. That way, everyone can be satisfied.”
“Hmm, that won't do. What if I insist on an investigation? What if I want to give the three innocent soldiers who sacrificed their lives for nothing some closure?”
Vadim gritted his teeth. “I cannot allow it. Even if I had to wear down all twenty-thousands of my troops, I will never agree to this.”
“General Cross, please reconsider. Otherwise, this will only end badly.”
“I promised the victims that the culprit would pay for this. No god can protect them from their fate.”
“If it's all of you? Nobody is walking away.”
