After catching up for a while, Hansel left with his wife.

He had come to the hospital to pay Nathan a visit to achieve three things. First and foremost, he wanted to update Nathan that the members disapproved of him joining the cabinet. Next, he hoped to get Nathan to support Zion in the upcoming presidential election. Last not but not least, he wanted to visit Penny.

As soon as Hansel left, Nathan returned to the ward to take care of Penny alongside Kylie.

In a soft voice, Penny said, “The First Lady informed me just now that Mr. Davier and other members have rejected the president's proposal to have you join the cabinet.”

With a faint smile on his face, Nathan answered,

“It's for the better. I'm more suited to be on the battlefield than dealing with dirty politics.”

Penny asked under her breath, “The First Lady also told me that you shot Kiel dead as well as what happened in today's cabinet meeting. Was the failure attributed to me?”

The question upset Nathan. “What nonsense! What's that got to do with you?

“Don't you worry about anything else; just focus on your health. The only thing that you need to know is that I'll never let anyone who hurts my wife off the hook, regardless of the person's status.”

Penny's eyes welled up. She hugged him and buried her head in his chest, then said tenderly, “Hubby, meeting you was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I hope that our family can live a simple and peaceful life. I just want to go

home now.”

Nathan assured her, “The doctor said that you can be discharged in two days' time. Since I'm not a cabinet member, I can spend some time with you in Channing.”

Penny acknowledged with a nod.

He then asked what she would like to have for dinner, to which Penny indicated that she was craving for his cooking.

Nathan grinned. “Sure. I know that they allow family members of the hospitalized patient to use the kitchen. I'll go get some groceries and make you a scrumptious meal.”
