Everyone present knew Maverick was the son of the Douglas family in the West, and they knew that Quent, Clifford's trusty bodyguard, was a member of the family.
Therefore, the crowd looked at Nathan and Penny pitifully as they knew they were in huge trouble.
Penny, too, became worried and hesitant.
Regardless, Nathan remained calm. He simply sat down and asked the waiter to serve their dishes.
While eating with Penny, he was waiting to see how powerful the Douglas family really was.
Many of the guests in the restaurant were candidates from across the nation participating in the presidential election conference to cast their sacred votes. Thus, they were not the type to enjoy drama.
Seeing the fight between Nathan and Maverick, a middle-aged man wearing a gray jacket walked out from the crowd.
His name was Jairo Usoro, a representative from the West.
He was close to the Douglas family and knew Maverick as well.
He stood up to lighten the mood. “Hey, we're all members of the regime from all over the nation —why fight amongst each other?”
“Don't you agree, Mr. Douglas and this good sir over here?”
When Maverick saw Jairo, he was slightly stunned. “Mr. Usoro! You're here too? What a coincidence!”
Jairo smiled. “Indeed! Mr. Douglas, I saw what happened just now. Since I'm friends with your father, I want to ask you to discuss things properly...”
Maverick was offended by his words.
He pointed to his injured face and his men and complained, “Mr. Usoro, I don't like what you said. I've never been mistreated like this. Do you think I will let this go so easily after this guy had beaten me up?”
Jairo turned to look at Nathan and Penny and smiled politely. “Sir, although Mr. Douglas was rude just now, you really shouldn't have been violent and hurt him this badly. If you apologize to Mr. Douglas, I can beg for mercy on your behalf and resolve this peacefully.
