At that moment, when Ceaser saw his father appear with an angry expression, he became fearful.
He knew that his father must have found out about him hiring an assassin to kill Nathan.
He braced himself. “Dad, why are you here?”
Clifford snorted, “I'm here to stop you. At the rate you're going, both of you might be dead the next time I see you.”
Ceaser responded with an awkward expression.
However, Gillian was upset and retorted, “Clifford, our son has been terribly humiliated. And yet, you refuse to seek revenge just because you want to preserve your career prospects? What's wrong with me trying to exact revenge
on my son's behalf when you refuse to do so?”
Gillian continued, “It's fine if you don't want to help, but why must you lose your temper at us for doing so? Please be clear that I'm no longer your wife and my son's surname is Goldstein and not Davier. Therefore, you have no right to tell us what to do!”
When Ceaser saw that his parents were going to quarrel, he tried to calm his mother down, “Mom, don't talk like that to Dad.”
Clifford snapped, “Let her speak! In her eyes, I was never worthy to be a husband nor a father. But, do you even know who is it that you're challenging here? He is the General of the North, Eurasia's top general.”
Clifford added, “Look at how many people he has killed in the North. The bodies are piled as high as mountains while the blood he spilled is enough to even form rivers. Have you forgotten what happened when he was on leave in the South?”
He continued, “How many powerful men on both sides of the law have died at his hand during that period? Do you even realize that I'm the only reason you're still alive after offending him?”
