Salute to the General novel Chapter 1866

Penny, Benson, Leah, Kylie, and Ava were pacing around in the house like cats on hot bricks after Nathan got summoned to the police station.

“Arthur Rivers must be crazy! How dare he order the General around?” Ava complained, “I'm gonna call Fang right now. I'm sure Arthur will pee his pants when the North Army's commander gets at him!”

Just as she was reaching for her phone, the door swung open, and there Nathan was, bewildered as he saw the anxious group in the living room.

“Papa!” Queenie was overjoyed and let out a cry when she saw Nathan.

Nathan opened his arms wide as she ran into his embrace. “Munchkin!” he called with a bright smile on his face.

Penny ran over after her daughter when she saw Nathan.

“Did they give you a hard time?” she asked.

“Well, they wanted to. But they didn't have what it takes to make things difficult for me,” Nathan assured, looking at her worried face.

Behind the trio, Ava criticized Zero and Arthur unreservedly. “Zero Yorick is one rude brat. He only has the guts to do this because he has the mayor backing him. I'll make sure they regret their action.”

“You don't have to, Ava. Arthur has been demoted to a village head and got transferred to Horington already,” Nathan told her casually.

Everyone was shocked upon hearing the piece of news.

“What happened?” Penny asked after a brief silence.

Nathan looked at the startled lot and decided to explain everything from the beginning. He told them about how Linus came to his rescue and got Arthur transferred to the village with just a call.

He also told them about why Linus came to see him, but he advertently left out the information about him being appointed as the Chief Military Governor. He only mentioned that he would be taking up new responsibilities.

The family was elated when they found out Nathan was entrusted with a new assignment.

They were confident that he would be able to ace it.

Unlike the others who turned their back against Nathan after he was relieved of his position as the commander-in-chief of the North Army, his family stood by him and gave him their unwavering support.
