Salute to the General novel Chapter 1932

Webb was getting fidgety. He knew Penny was agitated by the news and Ava was more than ready to end him there and then.

He fell on the ground in a subservient posture. “He really vanished, I swear we didn't do anything to him! From what we gathered, Nathan might have fled because he knew that Clifford was going to kill him. That's probably the reason why he escaped.”

For a good whole minute, Ava scrutinized the nervous man, trying to figure him out.

She had served alongside Nathan for years, not only was she skilled, but she was also highly experienced in interrogating her enemies.

After surveying Webb for some time, she finally turned towards Penny and lowered her voice.

“Mrs. Cross, he doesn't look like he's lying. The General probably disappeared because something came up. And this guy is just trying to create some trouble for us out of this.”

Penny was panic-stricken.

She bit her lips as she thought about what they should do next. “Let's go. We need to do everything we can to find out what happened.”

“Sure,” Ava replied before the two hurried off to look into the matter.

As for Webb's subordinates, they struggled to get on their feet and went over to help him.

But their good intentions were not well-taken. Webb raised his fists against them and roared angrily, “You bunch of useless brats! Y'all can't even defeat a woman? What's the use of paying all of you?”

Webb unleashed his pent up fury on his men.

Suddenly, someone stepped in, catching the enraged man off guard.

It was Quent—Clifford's most trusted man.

“What's with all the rage I feel in the air, Mr. Goldstein?” Quent asked with a subtle smile on his face.

“What brings you here, Mr. Douglas?” Webb asked awkwardly, not knowing what to do all of a sudden.
