Salute to the General novel Chapter 1934

Webb burst out in uncontrollable laughter at Penny's warning. “Wow, look at who's talking. Do you think you can challenge our family just because you're the boss of the largest pharmaceutical in Eurasia? Don't get ahead of yourself. You still don't have what it takes to stand up to us, so you'd better do as I say and come over to the hotel tonight. I'm sure you'll change your mind after seeing what I'm about to send you.”

After Webb hung up, a few notifications showed on Penny's phone.

She clicked on the messages and saw a few drafts of some news articles.

From the layout of the articles, one could easily tell they were made for gossip columns of newspapers.

The title was printed in large before paragraphs of words and a few photos. Business Goddess Penny Smith was spotted spending the night with a man at a hotel.

Those pictures were taken when Penny met up with Webb at Aegean Western Cuisine and when they were talking in the presidential suite.

The truth was, there were bodyguards all around when Penny went to see Webb yesterday. Ava was with her throughout the whole meeting, be it when they were at the restaurant or at the suite.

But the photos in those articles were so heavily edited they only showed Penny and Webb. Anyone could easily misunderstand this as a romantic rendezvous between the two.

The subsequent paragraph talked about how

Penny was desperate to look for another man after Nathan became a deserter. It even went on to say that Penny and Webb had a thing and the couple even spent the night at the hotel.

Penny quivered in anger as she read through the absurd claptrap. She almost threw her phone away in disgust looking at all those photos.

“Mrs. Cross, what's the matter?” Ava sensed something was wrong.

“Look at it yourself,” Penny said, handing her the phone.

Ava fumed with rage when she saw the content of the articles.

The articles Webb sent were all taken out of context. It was clear as day that they were aimed at smearing Penny's reputation.

“We shouldn't have let him go yesterday. He hasn't learned his lesson at all. It seems like he won't let us go until he gets his hands burned. I'll make sure he learns his lesson this time!” Ava was chafing under the pressure.
