Sophia couldn't stand it anymore. She glared at Raida who was struggling to stand from his humiliating position. “Mr. Khaiden, I will ask you this one last time. Are you or are you not the Chief Military Governor?”
Raida turned an ugly shade of purple.
“What if I am? And what if I am not?” he answered evasively.
Sophia's eyes flashed with murder. “If you are, I will assist you as best as I can, and help avenge you for the shame you've suffered in Nathan's hands. He needs to be stomped on so hard he loses prestige and dignity.”
“If you're not, however, ho ho. Sophia laughed as if to say that he is in massive trouble.
Raida gulped, his heart pounding frantically.
He was able to sense the malicious intent behind Sophia's laugh.
She was the one who mistook me for the Chief Military Governor! How could she blame me for that and use it to destroy me?
He felt like a victim of injustice.
“Of course I am the Chief Military Governor,” he said, standing upright and puffing out his chest.
“Then why weren't you able to defeat him earlier?” Sophia was dubious.
“He is a very skilled fighter. I am no match for him,” Raida answered truthfully.
“You're right,” Sophia said, her doubts alleviated. “Even though Nathan is stripped of everything, his martial prowess is something that cannot be taken from him.”
“I have not encountered anybody who was able to defeat him. I did not even expect you, the Chief Military Governor, to lose embarrassingly in his hands.”
“Yes indeed. He is too skilled an opponent.” Raida glanced around wildly, with beads of sweat forming on his temples.
“Even if you're no match for him in single combat, you do have the resources and authority to summon the Felidae Battalion to wipe out this punk.” Sophia stared at Raida with narrowed eyes, her suspicion arising again.
“You suffered so much indignation and embarrassment in his hands. Are you really willing to let him get away with this?”
“It... it's a small matter,” Raida mumbled, turning red. “It's unnecessary to summon an entire army for that.”
“I don't think so,” Sophia said. “Unless, of course, you do not have the authority because you are an imposter?”
