Raida exited the cafe with his phone pressed against his ear.
Wandering to a secluded area, he looked around to ascertain that nobody saw him. “No time like the present to run,” he muttered to himself.
Without even a thought for his two injured bodyguards in the cafe, he attempted his escape.
A few steps later, a figure appeared suddenly in front of him.
Before Raida could slow down, he collided into the figure.
It was as dense as a concrete pillar. Raida shook his head to reorient himself.
Don't people watch where they're going nowadays?
He looked up to yell at that figure but froze in shock as he realized that he was one of Sophia's bodyguards. The one with the eyepatch.
“You!” he screamed, turning pale.
Eyepatch watched him with amusement. “Chief Military Governor, you're leaving already?”
“Why are you leaving without saying goodbye to Ms. Davier? That's a little rude, don't you think?”
Eyepatch reached out and grabbed Raida firmly by the elbow and dragged him along.
“Get in,” he said roughly as he shoved Raida into Chronosphere Coffee House.
Raida found himself face to face with Sophia
Davier again.
“You were right, Ms. Davier,” Eyepatch said in a low voice to her. “He tried to give us the slip after his phone call, but I caught him.”
Sophia's eyes were filled with disappointment.
“Mr. Khaiden, you've hurt and let me down. How could you lie to me.”
“Do you know what happens to men who lie to me?”
Raida's face grew ashen. “I wasn't going to leave, I had to pee really badly.”
