Sage asked, “He must have come to ask for forgiveness. Would you like to meet him, Sir?”
Nathan said in a calm voice, “Why not.”
Sage then instructed the soldier to bring Valois into the study.
Clad in a black formal suit, Valois walked into the study steadily with a serious expression on his face.
Behind him was his subordinate, who carried a rectangular gift box with both of his hands.
“Good to see you, Sir,” Valois stood in front of Nathan's desk and greeted him with respect.
Nathan, who was dressed in his phoenix military coat and a Leviathan mask, sat still.
He responded with a strong and deep voice. “Have a seat, Mr. Valois.”
Valois was pleasantly surprised. After thanking the Chief Military Governor, he sat on the chair while trying to calm his nerves.
He sat on the edge of the chair as he was too afraid to make himself feel comfortable.
Chief Military Governor's mysterious aura, the way he spoke, and even the majestic study had intimidated Valois.
He could not believe he was sitting right in front of Chief Military Governor - the man who held the greatest military power in all Eurasia!
He had never felt such pressure even when he visited the President.
After Nathan had instructed someone to serve
Valois tea, he asked, “So how can I help you, Mr. Valois?”
Mr. Valois stood up immediately and explained, “Sir, recently a man had impersonated you, and unfortunately, my daughter, Sophia, had fallen into that person's trap.”
Nathan said, “I'm aware of this, and I've asked the General to take care of it.”
Valois' expression changed for a moment. He took the opportunity to test the waters. “Sir, mind if I ask, what's your relationship with General Nathan? Have you decided to use him again?”
Nathan said nonchalantly. “What has that got to do with you? Do I have to report to you?”
Valois instantly replied, “Oh, no, no, no, no, no... I shouldn't have asked. My bad. Sorry, Sir.”
Nathan said aloofly, “You've come to apologize on behalf of the Davier family, right? Your job is done now. You can leave.”
