Salute to the General novel Chapter 2060

Shae hastily instructed her subordinates to bring the painting and open it for Uncle's inspection.

After scrutinizing it, Clifford said in a deep voice, “That's right. This is my previous collection, the one that I recently gifted to the Chief Military Governor.”

I've kept it for many years and hung it in my study. I can't be wrong because I looked at it every day and am aware of its tiny details.”

Shae couldn't believe her ears and said stammeringly, “Since it's your gift to the Chief Military Governor, why did it appear somewhere else?”

Worriedly, Clifford snapped, “Where did you get this painting from?”

Shae answered honestly, “I got it from the Ghost Auction House!”

Clifford furrowed his brows and explained, “Well, it's possible that someone stole it because the staff in the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor didn't take good care of it. It could also be that someone from the inside secretly sold it for money.”

Shocked and furious, she exclaimed, “This is outrageous! Uncle, we should inform the Chief Military Governor about it. Let him punish the parasites himself.”

Much to her surprise, Clifford shook his head and replied, “This is not a good idea!”

Shae was shocked once again. “Why?”

Clifford explained, “You said that there are parasites in the Headquarters of the Chief

Military Governor.

“But have you ever thought that the parasites who work there are all subordinates of the Chief Military Governor?

“If the scandal about some parasites working for the Chief Military Governor was spread, wouldn't he feel ashamed of it?”

Shae nodded in agreement. “You're right. In that case, what should we do?”

Clifford suggested, “Well, I think we should send the painting back to the Chief Military Governor. He is smart and will instantly know what is going on once he sees the painting.

“However, we can't send the painting back to the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor through the proper channel. Otherwise, we would alert the parasites even before the Chief

Military Governor could see the painting.”
