Penny snapped at her insults towards Nathan. “How dare you berate him! He's not useless; he is a hero. Without his effort, you won't be living in peace right now. Yes, he's no longer the commander, but he still deserves all the respect he can get.”
Shae had not expected Penny to rebuke her with such righteousness.
She could not deny her words. What Penny said was true. Shae's ears turned red with humiliation.
She had to grab the upper hand back. “You're in my territory now. Looks like you've forgotten that your life is in my hands. One word from me and you can say goodbye to this world.”
Penny did her best to put up a front. “As I've said, let me go or you'll regret this. Nathan will never forgive you.” “Want me to let you go? Sure, I can consider it. Only if I'm satisfied with your answer.”
As if I would. Once I've forced the answer out of you, prepare to say goodbye to this world.
Dumbfounded, Penny asked, “What do you want to know?”
“Did you spend the entire night at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor?”
Penny was surprised at her knowledge. “How did you know?”
“I have my ways. I can't believe Nathan actually asked you to sell yourself so he could regain his power. How did the Chief Military Governor even fall for your tricks?”
Hearing her words, Penny couldn't help but interrupt. “Shae, I think you've misunderstood the situation here. I have yet to meet the Chief Military Governor myself. So I couldn't have done any of those things you're accusing me of.”
Shae had enough of her explanations. “Stop with your lies already. I didn't bring you here to listen to your make-believe. Now tell me, how did you seduce him? If you do, I'll consider letting you go.
“Like I said, you've got it wrong. I don't even know who the Chief Military Governor is. Your accusations are an insult to both of us. You can get punished for this!”
Shae scoffed at her empty threats. “Looks like someone's got a tight lip. But of course, I never expect you to tell me that easily anyway. I've got plenty of other ways to make you talk.”
