They were deliberating on what Nathan's “main course” was when suddenly came a faint sound of whirring machinery.
The four walls of the enclosure were demolished at the same time. They came down with an almighty crash, and the air was thick with dust and rubble.
Before the dust settled, a fleet of armored cars equipped with Gatling guns appeared before the eyes of the stupefied crowd. Rumbling like gigantic beasts of steel, they were a sight to behold.
Behind the fleet came the rhythmic marching of boots on the road.
A platoon clad in military uniform, each clutching a sub-machine gun and had their faces halfhidden in masks, appeared amidst the crowd and cars, ready for blood.
Another distant rumbling caused the assassins to look above, where their eyes were met with a few dozen choppers.
The mounted guns on every chopper were manned, and soldiers were rappelling down to the ground from ropes. As soon as they hit the ground, they swiftly fell in again.
The choppers were mounted with cannons aimed and ready to be fired at the Death Reapers.
Bobby stared at the full might of the military in a daze.
With a sense of absolute defeat, he said to Nathan. “Didn't you mention that you're no longer the Commander-In-Chief of the North
Army? I thought they stripped you of everything except your title. How is it possible for you to mobilize such a large army?”
“Their masks and emblem!” Shae screamed and pointed. “Look at their masks and emblem! Oh God, this is the personal army of the Chief Military Governor. It's the Felidae Battalion!”
“How did you manage to mobilize the Felidae Battalion?”
Ignoring them, Nathan walked over to Penny and asked in a soft voice. “Honey, are you all right?”
Penny had been on edge since her abduction. It was at its worst when she saw her husband being surrounded.
But at the army's appearance, she finally felt relieved again at the salvation of both herself and Nathan.
After experiencing the polarizing extremes of fear and relief, she passed out in Nathan's arms after mumbling “I'm fine”.
Nathan was initially startled at his wife's reaction but sighed in relief at the realization that she is now at rest.
