Salute to the General novel Chapter 2108

“I'll give you a chance since you wanted to kill us so badly. We have so many men here. Why don't you pick one to fight? If you win, I'll let you go. But, if you lose, all of you can forget about leaving,” Nathan said coldly.

The intruders wobbled with fear upon hearing that.

There was a glimmer of hope. Langston was initially afraid, not because he could not win against the commanders. But it was their backgrounds that were daunting and terrifying to him.

If it was only hand-to-hand combat, he was not afraid of anyone in the room.

Langston was confident in his own capabilities as a prominent martial arts master.

He raised his head and questioned, “Nathan, can I take your word for it?”

“Certainly. When have I ever gone back on my word?” Nathan chuckled.

“I can you, but I am afraid after winning, your friends might not keep the promise...” Langston said slyly.

Nathan snapped, “My brothers are all honest and upright men. None of them will go back on their word. I'm just afraid you can't even beat one man here.”

After the assurance, Langston's eyes flashed with eagerness and he became bolder.

“In that case, I will pick an opponent.”

Although confident, he was wary of the commanders-in-chief who had proper control of

military power.

The only options were Nathan and his subordinates.

Choosing Colin or anybody from the Elite Eight seemed like a good choice, since he could just run away after winning with no implications.

He then recalled boasting in front of his mentor to bring back Nathan's head back. However, he had knelt and begging for mercy instead.

Even if he were to win Colin or anyone of the Elite Eight, Langston could have saved his own life. Nevertheless, he could no longer hold his head high before his mentor and companions.

Hence, it was better to take a gamble and challenge Nathan directly.

It might be impossible to kill Nathan in front of

all the military leaders, but Langston could still break the man's limbs and beat him to an inch of his life. After he returned, he could still be able to face Clifford. The fact that he was so terrified he knelt would also get ignored because of his glorified win.

A grim look flashed in the master's eyes as he looked at Nathan and announced, “I will challenge you, Nathan. We will go one-on-one; each with our own ability to live or die. If I defeat you, my men and I will leave. If I am defeated, our lives will be under your hands.”
