When Colin woke up the next day and got to know that he was drugged by an intruder who tried to attack Nathan, the man was both shocked and furious at the same time.
However, he was glad that Nathan had reacted promptly and killed the assassin instead.
“General, we have to catch the person who hired that assassin. He has to be punished severely!” Colin exclaimed angrily.
Nathan replied placidly, “I've already asked Sage to look into the matter. I'm sure he will have updates for us very soon.”
After a moment of hesitation, Kylie said, “Nathan, I originally intended to stay for a few more days. However, since you have so much to deal with, I don't want to stay and trouble you. I’ve decided to return to Channing tomorrow morning.”
“All right. I'll cook some of my signature dishes for your farewell dinner tonight,” Nathan replied.
That afternoon, Nathan instructed the housekeeper to get the necessary ingredients before he started preparing dinner.
The man made a few exquisite dishes and was ready to have dinner with Kylie and Colin when Sage arrived at the villa.
It turned out that Sage had been investigating the mastermind behind Nathan's assassination attempt since the previous night, mobilizing most of his men. As he had just gotten some updates, he rushed over to report his findings to Nathan at once.
When he saw that the man was getting ready for dinner, it suddenly dawned on him that he had arrived at an inappropriate time.
As such, he quickly said, “General, please go ahead with your dinner. I'll wait in the living room.”
Nathan replied with a smile, “There's no need for that. I guess you haven't had dinner yet? Why don't you join us?”
The day had been extremely busy for Sage, and he had indeed not eaten anything for the entire day.
He only realized he was hungry when Nathan asked him to join them for dinner.
However, as Nathan was still his superior who held the top position in the military, Sage did not dare to share the dining table with him. “No, no. It's fine. I'm not hungry. General, please go ahead!” the man replied.
Right after he finished his sentence, his stomach started growling in protest.
Nathan and the rest could not hide their smile when they heard the sound.
Meanwhile, a blush of embarrassment spread across Sage's face.
Nathan laughed and said, “Magda, get Sage a plate and a set of cutlery.” “Yes, Mr. Cross,” the housekeeper answered at once.
Sage had no choice but to comply and sit down.
“When I was with the North Army, my subordinates and I ate together during meals too. As such, you don't have to be so tense. Just make yourself at home and enjoy the dinner,” Nathan said smilingly.
Both Colin and Sage could not help but feel emotional when Nathan asked them to make themselves at home. That meant that the Chief Military Governor was treating them like his family!
Nathan continued, “Actually, this is a farewell dinner for my cousin-in-law. She will be returning to Channing tomorrow.”
