“Mr. Leroy!”
The Quillen family's subordinates yelped and hurried over to Leroy's side. They panicked and were practically fumbling when they helped Leroy up.
Leroy felt as though his head was ripped off after Nathan had slapped him.
It took some time before Leroy came back around. He had his hand on his bloated and reddened face. Still confused, he asked, “Is my head still attached?”
Everyone looked at one another after hearing that question.
It seemed Leroy was trying to figure out if he survived. If my head is still attached, then that would mean that I survived.
Some time later, Leroy slowly regained his footing. His numb face started to feel the pain as well.
When he reached out to touch his face, he stung himself so much that he hissed. Worse still, the blood on his face got all over his hand.
Leroy was beyond angry at that point.
That guy is not playing by the rules and attacks so mercilessly!
Leroy glared at Nathan and spat his words through gritted teeth. “You stupid brat. I can't believe you actually attacked me. This is it. You are so dead.”
Nathan calmly replied, “Hey, you're the one who said that you are responsible for the mistakes Matias and his men made. Besides, you shoved your face over, then asked me to teach you a lesson. Why wouldn't I slap you under those circumstances?”
Leroy was so angry that his entire body was trembling after he heard what Nathan said. Things were so bad that the desire to kill was creeping up in Leroy's heart.
That was when a series of footsteps echoed right outside the VIP room.
All anyone heard was a series of synchronized footsteps that suggested that an army was marching toward them. Soon, a proud and powerful major-general led a squad of armed soldiers into the room.
That major-general was none other than Sage Tomlinson, the office manager at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor.
Leroy was thinking about how he would kill Nathan when Sage entered the room with his men. That caused Leroy's eyes to shine and prompted him to shout, “Oh! General Tomlinson, you're finally here.”
After saying that, Leroy pushed away his subordinates, who had gathered to help him get up. He walked to Sage right away.
Matias was barely hanging onto his life at the time, and Fredrick, Trevor, and Landen were still kneeling. Seeing Sage there prompted every single one of them to smile excitedly.
The Quillen family's backup is finally here.
At last, Nathan will fall, and his arrogance will end right here and now.
Matias wasn't the only one who struggled to get to his feet. At that moment, the three men that had been kneeling suddenly sprang to their feet. Courage returned to them once more.
