The crowd followed Garrett, the Chief Military Governor, and Cayden into the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor.
Cayden frowned slightly upon crossing the threshold. The lack of festive decorations in the hall was a vastly different scene than the grand inauguration he had imagined.
Garrett took his seat before the Great Cabinet. The twenty-eight ministers, and the loyal veterans of the army followed suit and took their seats in an orderly manner according to the names on their seats.
A group of well-dressed waitresses brought them tea before hurriedly retreating.
Layden glanced around. Around the hall, armed members of the Felidae Battalion stood guard behind every column.
When everybody was seated, Layden discovered to his increasing bewilderment that he was the only one who could not find a seat with his name on it.
The staff must have been so careless to have missed out on the person in whose honor the event is dedicated! Perhaps they didn't bother to as I would be on my feet the entire time with the swearing-in procedure.
In addition, Cayden found that aside from guards who were on duty to maintain order, he and the Chief Military Governor were the only ones remaining on their feet.
Cayden gazed at the figure clad in the phoenix military coat and the Leviathan mask in
astonishment. Could the Chief Military Governor be personally announcing to everyone my appointment as Assistant Chief Military Governor?
Cayden's unrelenting gaze at the Chief Military Governor was
reciprocated.
A moment later, the Chief Military Governor turned away to study everybody in turn before finally falling on Garrett.
The Chief Military Governor spoke slowly. His voice rang clearly through the Leviathan mask woven with gold thread. “Respected President Windsor, fellow elders, and fellow brothers-in-arms of the military, there is a very important matter today which must be made known to all of you today.”
