Soon, Jemma and her people slinked away.
Penny then whispered to Nathan, “Hubby, why did you come?”
Nathan chuckled, “Colin told me that Ariarica has sent people for the negotiation with Cross Group, so I came over to take a look. I wasn't expecting those robbers to be that conceited.”
A bitter laugh escaped Penny at that. “Thank god you appeared. You've helped Cross Group through its crisis and stood up for me. Still, we didn't get to solve the root of this issue. I'm afraid that she'll definitely lie about some details when she reports to her superior. It's likely that Ariarica would try to take revenge on us for this.”
Nathan laughed. “We'll take one step at a time. All we need to do is to go with the flow.”
Affected by Nathan's optimism, Penny's gloominess seeped away a little. She then held Nathan's hand and smiled. “You're right. Even if Cross Group's overseas businesses are forced to close, our market stocks plummet, and we lose a tremendous amount of money, we must our and the county's honor. We must not sign Ariarica's oppressive contract and lower ourselves for meager things like these.”
Nathan chuckled. “Indeed. If we stand firm on this principle, Ariarica won't be able to do anything to us. However, we can't sit on our hands either. We can't just abandon all our overseas businesses without trying to defend ourselves. The best case scenario would be that we could protect our dignity and our overseas businesses.”
Penny chuckled. “This will be up to you.”
In the meantime, Jemma and her people scurried to Alberesque in the
South.
They came to Ariarica's embassy in Eurasia. There, she saw her superior, who was also the famous Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jessica.
Jessica had gathered a group of talented individuals from the business department, as well as elite soldiers from the army, to form a negotiation team. They were planning to meet the Eurasian representative, Zion, to discuss Ariarica's plan to sanction a well-known Eurasian business.
Jessica was in her fifties, and she was known in Ariarica for her aggression and ruthlessness.
Before she arrived, she had already sent Jemma and the others for the first round of negotiation at Cross Group's office.
If Cross Group agreed to Ariarica's terms, then her meeting with Zion would go much smoother.
After all, by then, they would have already taken advantage of Cross Group. All they needed to do next was to do Zion a favor by saying that they would stop the sanction on Eurasian companies. Once that was done, she would have accomplished her task.
Yet, to her surprise, Jemma had failed to get Cross Group to agree to their terms.
Not only did Cross Group stubbornly reject Ariarica's terms, but they had even humiliated Jemma and injured Ariarica's military personnel.
At that moment, the middle-aged woman in a black suit and gelled hair, Jessica, was coldly staring at Jemma, who was quaking in her boots.
