At that moment, Nathan arrived with Franklin, Colin and Kylie.
"You again!" Nathan's voice was chilly when he spotted Shane.
Taking in how the various commanders and colonels were standing behind Nathan respectfully, Shane was completely dumbfounded. He stuttered out, "W-who are you...?"
"You're not worthy of knowing my true identity." Turning to the soldiers, Nathan commanded, "Arrest them all! Like the others, take them to military prison for some hard labor.”
Crashing to his knees before the other man, Shane started to plead pitifully with tears streaming down his face, "Mr. Cross, I know I was wrong. I'm kneeling before you now as I beg you for mercy. Please, give me a chance!"
Nathan's voice was hard as he responded, "Last time when you were rude to my wife, I had already given you a chance to apologize. It's your own fault for not taking the opportunity given to you."
Pausing, his voice chilled further as he continued, "You're here today because you were planning to kill me. If I was at the mercy of you and Finley Zabinski, would you have let me go?"
Shane hemmed and hawed but was unable to give a concrete answer. The truth was, he had been screaming about having a go at Cross and wanting him dead. There was no way to deny that.
Not wanting to waste any more time on the man, Nathan gestured for the soldiers to capture them all.
Utter despair twisted Shane's face. For a pampered and spoiled man like him to go to prison, it would be a fate worse than death.
Nathan instructed Franklin to deal with the two groups of men, reminding him to be surreptitious about it. He did not want his true identity exposed as he did not want to disturb his family's peaceful life.
Snapping a crisp salute, Franklin reassured, "Yes, sir! I'll take care of everything here, don't you worry. I won't expose your identity nor allow any trouble to befall your family."
Finally, things were over. Nathan and Kylie got back in their old Polo and left the base behind. Colin and the Elite Eight trailed them in their Jeeps, serving as protection in case anything else happened.
From the moment they got in their car, Kylie's eyes had focused on Nathan and remained glued there. The excited and admiring look in those eyes was exactly like how a fangirl would stare at her idol.
Unable to stand the look in her eyes, Nathan grumbled, "Why do you keep staring at me? Stop it. Look forward if you have to stare at something."
Giggling, Kylie refused, "Nope. I want to stare at you."
