Salute to the General novel Chapter 2576

Shearson smiled. “Orders, huh? I like your choice of words. I knew I made the right choice when I picked you from the crowd. You truly are someone who is smart and tactful. Dealing with people like you will make things much easier for me.”

As Shearson spoke, he tapped on the edge of his cigarette. “I've read through your folder, so I know all about you. I am also aware of the... business you're conducting at Eurasian Street. You see, I know you wish to immigrate to Ariarica and be a permanent resident there, but the harsh truth is that your business is illegal, so all it takes is one call to destroy you."

Dip's expression started changing for the worse.

Shearson let out a grin. “However, I didn't make that call because I think even a homeless mutt can be of use.”

Dip gritted his teeth and said, “I still don't understand. What do you want from me?”

Shearson replied, “I want you to kill someone for me. The target is a Remdikian student studying in Eurasia. I believe you have what it takes to accomplish this mission. You have plenty of fighting experts with you, after all, so it shouldn't be a problem. As a reward, I will let you come to Ariarica once you've completed your mission. You will be granted permanent resident status, and your illegal business will be protected. We can keep you safe so long as you don't do anything too drastic.”

Dip's eyes bulged in surprise, but he calmed down soon after.

He kept his eyes on Shearson and cautiously asked, “Killing someone is a simple matter, so why are you turning to me? Won't it be easier for you to send your own men to carry out that mission?”

Shearson replied, “This is something I do not like about you. You ask way too many questions, and some questions are best left unasked. Still, since you want to know, I might as well answer you.”

Shearson took a puff before he continued, “It would not be good for my men to kill that Remdikian girl because I need a Eurasian to be the murderer.”

Dip calmly said, “So, I'm guessing that Remdikian girl is not just some random woman? She must be someone important, right?”

Annoyed, Shearson replied, “There you go again. I told you I don't like it when you ask questions like that. You don’t need to know who that Remdikian girl is. Your only mission is to kill her, and that's that.”

Dip had been working in that industry for far too long, so naturally, he knew the mission wasn’t as simple as Shearson claimed.

If the matter truly is that simple, Shearson wouldn't have jumped through so many hoops and tapped into the government's resources just to locate me.

Dip couldn't help asking, “Can I bow out of this and turn this down?” Shearson replied, “Of course, you can. If you turn down my offer right here and now, my subordinates will put a bullet in your brain. They will also murder your family and clan members, all of whom are standing right behind that door. After that, I will clap the dust off my hands and go home as though nothing happened.”
