Looking at Dip's blanched face, Nathan said, “You know how the Remdikians are. Mr. Gammon is famous for his vicious actions. If he finds out you planned to kill his daughter, your family will be wiped out.” Compared to Dip's terrified state, Nathan was calm and collected.
Dip was already at an advanced age, so he wasn't afraid of dying.
However, he didn't want the Turner family to be wiped out. If that happen, he would be left with no descendants.
In a trembling voice, he pleaded, “Mr. Cross, I was wrong. I'm terribly sorry. Please give me another chance to atone for my sins.”
Nathan chuckled lightly and asked, “Atone for your sins? Tell me how you'll do that.”
Dip steeled himself and gave his word. “I'm willing to reveal everything and defect to your side! Mr. Cross, I'll do anything you want me to do!”
Nathan shot him a curt nod. “That sounds good. But first, tell me who ordered you to head back to Eurasia to stir things up.”
At once, Dip confessed everything without missing any detail.
In the end, he scrunched up his face and insisted, “Mr. Cross, everything I say has been nothing but the truth! I've never thought of taking revenge on you. I don't even know who Sofie is. It was Shearson who forced me to kill her!”
Nathan was wondering who Shearson was when Colin leaned nearer to whisper in his ear, “If I remember correctly, Ariarica's Five-Star General, Max, has a vice general going by the name of Shearson. I believe it was him who forced Dip to commit the act.”
Comprehension dawned on Nathan.
Dip could barely hide his shock after hearing that. He knew Shearson was an influential figure, but it didn't occur to him that the man was Max's vice general.
Colin said, “Eurasia has been working closely with Remdik recently, so perhaps Ariarica has its suspicions. I can't believe Max resorted to such a despicable trick to ruin our friendly relationship with Remdik, though! This is a slight we will not take lightly!”
