The next morning, while Nathan and Penny were eating breakfast, Colin came to report to Nathan.
“President Cross, most of the missing people in Jinrich have been confirmed to be dead, and their deaths had something to do with Karlis. There are many questionable things about Karlis' identity. Even if he's not a vampire from the legends, he must be a blood-drinking lunatic. I'm afraid that the spread of the news will create undesirable effects, and it might even cause panic in the people. How should I handle this, President Cross?”
Although he had mentally prepared himself for the worst-case scenario, Nathan still could not help but feel somber when he heard that those missing people were found dead.
He put down his fork and uttered, “Have you found Sera's daughter?”
Colin replied, “We've found her body, and her body has been exsanguinated! What's left of her is a dried corpse! It's almost the same situation for the others.”
Nathan muttered, “Keep this news under wraps so that the people won't panic.”
Nathan then added, “Although we shouldn't inform the public about this case, we should give them a proper answer. Tell the public that this is a serial murder case and publish the list of victims. And tell them that the serial killer, Karlis, has already been brought to justice.”
“Understood!”
“Remember, all you need to do is to hide Karlis' identity as a vampire. You can announce the others according to the truth. It'll be our reply to the people.”
“Understood. I know what to do.’
After Colin left, Nathan and Penny were in a grave mood. They no longer had the appetite for breakfast.
“I thought vampires and werewolves are just legends. I never thought they exist,” Penny said.
“There are many strange things in this world. However, strange things like these are rare. This case should be an exception. You don't need to worry that something like this will occur again. I just feel sad for those poor girls and those parents who lost their daughters,” Nathan said.
Vampires in Jinrich were not too massive of an issue nor too minor of an issue.
Nathan had just risen to his rank. As traditions went, he had to take a tour around each state.
