Salute to the General novel Chapter 2729

Nathan moved swiftly in the darkness, chasing after the wild beast by following its tracks on the ground.

Hunting came naturally to him.

While he served in the North Army, he had tried chasing a small enemy troop, also known as Cobra Special Forces, in a dense forest. After a day of pursuit, Nathan eventually wiped out the entire troop.

Nathan moved so quickly that he soon left Colin and the Elite Eight far behind.

A while later, Colin and the others stood beside a mountain river, staring at their surroundings in confusion.

Colin muttered anxiously, “We're doomed. How could we lose track of President Cross? We should've kept up with his speed! What should we do now?”

One of the Elite Eight members, Trinity, reassured Colin, “Don't worry, General Dunne. President Cross is a skilled hunter. This is a small hunting ground, and no animal can harm him. Let us not fret unnecessarily and focus on looking for the President. I'm sure we’ll uncover his footprints and eventually meet him.” Colin could only smile wryly and reply, “I guess that's the best we can do! Come on, then! We're in a foreign land, and we must always keep our guards up to ensure our president's safety.”

With that, the men began searching for Nathan's tracks in earnest.

At the same time, about three kilometers away, Nathan had just shot down a wolf weighing over fifteen kilograms.

He stared at the dead animal before nudging it with his foot. Then, he mumbled self-deprecatingly, “I thought I was pursuing a pack of wolves, not just you.”

Nathan had barely finished his sentence when he heard some faint noises nearby.

It sounded as though an animal had stepped on some twigs.

Although the noises were faint, Nathan easily noticed them.

He narrowed his eyes and secretly put up his guard. Outwardly, however, he pretended to be oblivious and continued inspecting the dead wolf.

Suddenly, two figures darted out from behind to attack him.

Nathan stood still, appearing wholly unaware of the danger behind him.

A split second later, he whirled around and raised a hand.

Blades glinted from within his shirtsleeves.

With his military dagger, Nathan promptly slit the throats of his two attackers.

Instead of two wolves, Nathan was surprised to discover that his attackers were human.

He retracted his dagger and demanded, “Who are you?”

His attackers, however, did not show any appreciation for his show of mercy.

Instead, the pair lunged at Nathan and landed their right fists on Nathan’s chest.

The blows sent Nathan flying several meters away, and his chest throbbed with pain.

When Nathan looked down, he was shocked to see that his shirt was shredded.

Thankfully, his body was stronger than the average human, and his attackers' punch had not caused him any real harm.

The attackers, who were preening over their successful strike, soon realized something was wrong.
