Salute to the General novel Chapter 2771

Cercis Estate was as wide as eighty thousand square meters, and that was where the famous Duke Szymon of Eagleland resided.

At that moment, Szymon was in his office in the castle in the estate.

Seated on his chair, Szymon puffed out clouds of smoke from his cigar while reading the newspaper with narrowed eyes.

That was a habit of his.

Every morning, he would go horseriding, fencing, or do some other exercise. After breakfast, he would resign to his office and read the newspaper to get an idea of what was happening at that time.

The decoration in his office was luxurious.

Behind him was a gigantic oil painting of a general of Eagleland on a horse. The general was waving his sword in the air, commanding the Eaglelandian army to attack the enemies.

If one were to pay closer inspection to the painting, one could tell that the general in the painting was none other than the duke himself.

The oil painting was a commemoration of the war where Szymon had gained fame. With thirty thousand troops, he had vanquished one hundred thousand rebel troops from a colonizing country, making history.

Inside the office, various stuffed specimens of deer heads hung on the wall. The chairs were also laid with different fur and skin of wild animals.

All those were the results of Szymon's hunting incidents.

He had transformed the hunted animals into various specimens or had used their skin and fur as decorations, usually as coverings of the chairs or rugs beneath his feet.

His office was also ornamented with a plethora of antiques such as an ancient rifle, swords, or priceless aged fine wine.

Nevertheless, the most shocking thing in his office was a glass cabinet with less than twenty objects on display.

Those objects were skulls that were covered with different markings.

Every one of those skulls did not have a simple past. Each skull was once a powerful big shot or general.

Those men had been those who had lost against Szymon in a war when he had conquered many lands. Once they were defeated, Szymon would cut off their heads at end of the battle.
