Leo finally understood that the party was just a disguise. Ms. Shannon's real objective was to destroy Nathan Cross in front of Channing's most important people from all walks of life.
That was her idea of settling scores in a high-profile manner.
However, Leo had his concerns. "Ms. Shannon, if we organize a business reception in the name of Mr. Turner, all the distinguished personages of the city would flock to attend. Do you think it will upset Mr. Turner if we make use of his reputation this way?”
Shannon Russo replied haughtily, "Mr. Turner also can't wait to get rid of Nathan Cross. If the party is organized in his name, and we manage to kill that man during the party; everyone would think that it was Mr. Turner who was behind it. Don't you think Mr. Turner will be pleased instead of feeling offended?"
After Leo heard Shannon Russo's analysis, he replied, "I'll see to it immediately!"
The news on Dip Turner, King of the South, was holding a business reception at the Channing Hotel spread quickly across the city of Channing.
It was the hottest talk of the upper-class social circle in Channing. Everyone was vying for an entry ticket to the party and took pride in having one.
It was no doubt that Dip Turner was a paramount presence in the South.
Penny Smith was delighted that she had received an invitation as well.
She conveyed the good news to Nathan Cross at the first instance. She said as she could barely contain her excitement, "Nathan! Dip Turner is organizing a business reception in Channing and we have been invited! Oh my God! We're in luck."
An unfathomable glint flashed across Nathan Cross's eyes. According to his source, Dip Turner was the one who instigated Henry Lancaster to cause problems for him previously.
After Henry Lancaster was defeated in Channing, it was rather odd that Dip Turner was suddenly holding a party here.
Regardless of the authenticity of the information he gathered, Nathan Cross was sure that this business party was set up as a trap for himself and Penny.
As such, he replied to his wife nonchalantly, "It's just a business reception. Why are you so excited about it. I don't think it's really that important for us to attend the party."
Still reeling with a surprise from the invitation, Penny Smith said, "Nathan, are you aware that Mr. Turner is a very influential and powerful man in the South? If we can get into his good books, it would be a breeze for us in terms of our business or political dealings in the area. Everyone is eager to attend this cocktail party which he's holding.”
Penny noticed that Nathan seemed totally unmoved by what she just said.
