A symphony of sounds echoed across the battlefield. Yet Nathan could still sense someone sneaking up on him from behind.
The wealth of experience Nathan had gained from his past battles was useful at that moment.
He didn't have the time to turn around and determine how fast and from what angle the attackers were coming at him. He could only use his experience to gauge their speed and angle through how close their weapons were to him.
Then he swung his dagger over his back.
Clang!
Nathan's dagger collided with the attacker's rapier, creating a crisp sound.
The attacker was a vampire viscount.
He had believed his sneak attack would succeed. He had even pictured Nathan dying in his hands.
Yet, he didn't expect Nathan's reflex to be so quick.
His rapier cracked the second it clashed with Nathan's mithril dagger, while the veins of his heart were all shattered as if a lightning bolt had struck him. With a bloodcurdling scream, he flew backward.
Vince used that moment to thrust his rapier at Nathan.
Nathan lifted his dagger and defended himself.
Another deafening sound echoed across the sky.
The collision created a huge shock wave and pushed the rest of the vampires who were charging at Nathan backward.
No one could get in the way of the battle between Nathan and Vince.
“The tenth move.” Nathan swung the dagger in his hand.
Vince didn't expect Nathan to switch his moves so rapidly. He tried to block the latter's attack, but he was too slow.
A flash of light reflected off the edge of the dagger, and Vince felt a cool sensation on his forehead.
His whole body froze, then a bloody line split his features in half, and his head cracked.
His dead body toppled backward like a falling tree.
“Your Grace!”
“He killed His Grace!”
