As soon as Vivien spoke, Dupont and the other elite vampires surrounded Nathan and his men.
The subordinates accompanying Vivien were all elites of her clan, each powerful enough to rain chaos and destruction down onto the mortal realm.
However, Nathan completely ignored Dupont and the others.
Nonchalantly, he pulled out a chair and sat down.
Then, he produced a pack of cigarettes and lit one leisurely. “Where are Mrs. Woods and my goddaughter?”
Vivien turned her glance to the side. “Are you referring to those two?”
A hidden door at the corner of the private room suddenly opened and two vampires, each holding someone hostage, walked out.
The two hostages were, without a doubt, Paisley and Maisy.
Both women were bound by ropes and had their mouths taped shut.
Tears streamed down Paisley's face when she saw Nathan, but she felt at ease as if his presence alone mitigated any danger she would otherwise face.
Maisy had lost her father, so she viewed her godfather, Nathan, as a paternal figure.
Frightened and aggrieved, her tears wouldn't stop falling when she saw him. She struggled with all her might but could only let out muffled whines as her mouth was taped shut.
Nathan was relieved after seeing that both women were still alive.
He gave them both a reassuring look, signaling them to remain calm.
Then, he turned to address Vivien calmly, “It's me you're picking a fight with. Why would you involve them? They're innocent. Let them go, and I might consider showing you mercy.”
Vivien laughed. “Hah! I'm here for the little girl. Getting rid of you is a bonus. Besides, you don't seem to understand the situation. Right now, both of their lives are in my hands. If you do not wish for them to die, get on your knees and beg me. Or else, I could give you a painless death.”
“You? Making me kneel?” Nathan said coldly. “Even the Patriarch himself is not worthy of making me kneel, let alone you.”
