Verhand was enveloped by Nathan's powerful aura. Feeling a buzz in Verhand's head, all sounds seemed to fade into the distance. Astonishingly, illusions began to appear before his eyes. The solemn sound of scripture reading echoed in Verhand's ears. At first, the sound was like the buzzing of mosquitoes. However, it felt like more and more mosquitoes joined in. Eventually, the scripture reading reached a crescendo, sounding like thunderclaps exploding right beside Verhand's ears.
To Verhand's horror, he discovered that Nathan had disappeared before his eyes, as had the humans and his fellow vampires. Even the mountains had disappeared. At this moment, Verhand found himself in an incredibly majestic Aplothian palace. The sound of scripture reading in his ears sounded like the rolling thunder. Suddenly, ten incredibly tall demons appeared around Verhand.
These Aplothian demons were all dressed in official robes and wore crowns on their heads, each holding a variety of weapons in their hands. Verhand seemed like a mere ant when he was surrounded by the ten Aplothian demons, feeling utterly insignificant in the demons' presence.
I-Is this the Ten Princes of Hell that Nathan mentioned?
The moment this thought arose in Verhand's heart, the Ten Princes of Hell simultaneously swung their weapons toward him. Spurt! Verhand's body was pierced by the weapon. Then, all the illusions before his eyes vanished. Verhand was still at the peak of God's Palm. His surroundings were still filled with humans and vampires. Before Verhand's eyes, Nathan's figure appeared.
At this moment, Nathan's sword had already pierced through Verhand's body. Verhand looked at Nathan in front of him, then glanced down at the sword that pierced through his body. A wry smile appeared on Verhand's face. “Your strength is greater than mine, I admit defeat wholeheartedly. I only hope that you keep your promise to bury my sword and my body together.”
Nathan said solemnly, “I can agree to that, but only after today's battle is completely over. For now, sit here and witness me defeating all the vampire kings!” After Nathan finished speaking, he withdrew his sword. Verhand could no longer hold on and was about to collapse weakly. But before Verhand fell, Nathan reached out and grabbed Verhand's arm and steadied Verhand's body. Gently, Nathan helped Verhand sit down on the ground and leaned the latter's back against a large rock behind him, where the latter would eventually pass away while seated. On Verhand's body, a stream of red blood mist emerged, soaring into the sky and forming a gladiolus-shaped blood cloud that lingered for a long time.
Verhand is dead!
Gregg's eyes widened. His face was full of disbelief, as if he were dreaming at that moment. Joshua and Max both had very unpleasant expressions on their faces. The subordinates behind the three King-Class vampires were all scared into silence, staring at Nathan with fear.
At last, it was Colin and Hepburn who reacted first among the others. Hepburn excitedly exclaimed, “He won! Mr. Cross has won again!” Tears filled Colin's eyes as he shouted loudly, “Nathan, the alliance's commander-in-chief and the God of War, has slain the second challenger, Verhand!”
Behind Colin, fifteen thousand warriors of the alliance reacted immediately and shouted in unison with Colin, “Nathan, the alliance's commander-in-chief and the God of War, has slain the second challenger, Verhand!” Their voice thundered, resonating far and wide. Beneath the mountains, both the vampire army and the human alliance clearly heard the sounds coming from the mountains.
A wave of chaos ensued in the vampire army. Once again, earth-shattering cheers erupted in the human alliance. “Commander Cross is awesome! He has slain yet another King-Class vampire.”
“Commander Cross is domineering, and humanity is bound to win.” Wolfric exchanged silent glances with Eiken, Tyrell, and other War Gods. They originally thought that by temporarily taking control of the alliance's main forces, they could put a stumbling block in Nathan's way.
However, they didn't expect that Nathan was stealing the limelight now. Inside the palace of the vampire's headquarters thousands of miles away, the princes were all in a complete mess. They gazed at the gladiolus blood cloud that appeared in the sky and knew that something bad had happened to Verhand. At this moment, they anxiously said to Lyanna, “Ms. Lyanna, Prince Verhand has encountered misfortune. Does Patriarch Herod know about this? Should we take action and go to provide support?” Lyanna spoke expressionlessly, “Patriarch Herod has said that he already knows and has made a decision. Everyone, please hold your horses and wait patiently.”
In the study room, Herod, the vampire's Patriarch, gazed at the bloody clouds outside the window and murmured to himself, “Nathan, oh Nathan, must I really take matters into my own hands to kill you?”
