Salute to the General novel Chapter 3322

Meanwhile, in a distant place, on the peak of God's Palm, Joshua had already risen to the occasion and challenged Nathan before Gregg could speak. During the battle with Verhand, Nathan managed to slay him, but not before being injured by Verhand's sword. Moreover, Nathan used his ultimate move when killing Verhand. Hence, Nathan must have consumed a significant amount of energy. Joshua didn't want to give Nathan any time to catch the latter's breath, so he simply continued to challenge Nathan straightforwardly.

“Joshua, a King-Class vampire, challenges you.”

The human warriors at the scene couldn't help but start scolding upon seeing the situation. Colin angrily said, “What kind of king are you? I see you as nothing but shameless scoundrels! Is this how you challenge others? Since you can't defeat Commander Cross, you resort to attrition warfare, huh?”

Hepburn also reprimanded angrily, “That's right! You don't even give Commander Cross a moment to catch his breath. I'm sure you're just lacking confidence when facing Commander Cross, right?”

Facing ridicule and scolding from people like Colin and Hepburn, Joshua didn't seem to care at all. With a shameless expression, he said, “It was Commander Cross who personally stated that from this morning until nightfall, we, the elite vampires, can continuously challenge him. He had just fought two challengers. Is he already wanting to take a break from accepting the challenges?”

After saying that, Joshua looked at Nathan. Nathan said coldly, “I don't need to rest. I accept your challenge. You mean nothing to me, and compared to Verhand, you're even lesser. Killing you would be as easy as slaughtering chickens and dogs.”

Joshua flew into a rage and was about to attack immediately. However, Hepburn suddenly exclaimed, “Wait!” Amidst everyone's astonished gazes, Hepburn the Holy Maiden hurried over, cutting off a piece of her battle skirt with a dagger. With a slightly flushed face, she said, “Mr. Cross, your wound hasn't been bandaged yet. Let me help you with that.”

After speaking, she turned her head and coldly said to Joshua, “Don't tell me that you don't even have time to wait for the wound to be bandaged.”

Joshua said angrily, “Hurry up and bandage him! What's the use of bandaging someone who's about to die?” Ignoring Joshua, Hepburn stepped closer to Nathan. She disregarded the strange gazes of the surrounding vampires and humans.

With a flushed face, she used the cut-off piece of her skirt to bandage the wound on Nathan's chest. Then, she whispered softly, “Mr. Cross, you are a great hero in my heart, and you are also the hope of humanity. No matter what, you must win.” Nathan chuckled lightly. “Don't worry, I'll definitely win. My wife and children are waiting for me back home!”

Everyone around could see that the Holy Maiden had fallen in love with Nathan. Upon hearing Nathan's words, everyone understood that it was just a one-sided love. Hepburn nodded and stepped back. Growing impatient and not wanting to give Nathan any chance to recover his strength, Joshua asked irritably, “Can we start now? I can't wait to kill you and avenge Verhand! Is there any point in bothering to bandage the wounds of someone who's about to die?”

Nathan held his sword with the tip slanting toward the ground and looked at Joshua with disdain.

“Since you're eager to die, I'll grant your wish. Draw your weapon!”

Joshua was not skilled in using weapons on a daily basis. Moreover, he had just witnessed with his own eyes the vampire's Sword God, Verhand, being slain by Nathan. To Joshua, engaging in a weapon fight with Nathan meant pitting Joshua's weakness against Nathan's strength.

Joshua's eyes darted around, and he said deliberately, “I won't use any weapons. Whether you use them or not is up to you; I don't mind either way. However, if you defeat me using weapons, I'm afraid others might say that you have an unfair advantage.”

Nathan glanced at Joshua, seemingly seeing through the latter's intentions. With a crisp sound, Nathan put his sword back in its sheath and said coldly, “I wanted to give you a quick death with one slash, but since you chose a more miserable way to die, I can only use my fists to beat you to death.”

Joshua angrily said, “It's not clear who will kill who yet. Let's fight.”
