Upon seeing Shadowbeard suddenly appear, especially after witnessing his vampire battle form, Destroyer couldn't help but blurt out, “A vampire?”
The few soldiers behind him were also on high alert as if facing a formidable enemy.
Nathan was just about to speak, but to everyone's surprise, upon hearing Destroyer mention the word “vampire,” Shadowbeard actually raised a finger to his lips, signaling everyone to keep quiet.
He had a large figure, yet he walked on his tiptoes, which made him look particularly odd.
He hunched over and tiptoed to Nathan and the others. Under their astonished gazes, he whispered, “Don't make a fuss. There is indeed a powerful vampire lurking nearby. I've been hunting him for a long time.”
Nathan was dumbfounded.
Destroyer and the few soldiers were also dumbfounded. What's wrong with Shadowbeard? He's a vampire, so why is he saying he's hunting a powerful vampire?
Nathan noticed the numerous scars on Shadowbeard, particularly the injury on the side of his head. He vaguely realized that Shadowbeard might have just been through a fierce battle, and someone had severely injured his head.
That had led to Shadowbeard now having issues with his sanity.
Nathan asked tentatively, “Shadowbeard, what are you doing here? Do you still remember me?”
The members of Destroyer were once again stunned by what they heard, looking at Nathan in bewilderment. They wondered when Nathan got to know that terrifying vampire.
Nathan noticed the unusual looks on Destroyer and the others' faces, so he explained in an undertone, “I visited the vampires' headquarters not long ago, trying to prevent the imminent war between the vampire and the Curia. That's how I came to know this guy.”
The moment Shadowbeard heard Nathan call his name, he froze.
There was an unmistakable confusion in his eyes.
