Hepburn and her team escorted the Four Emperors into the Imperial City. They boarded an aircraft, traversed half of the Imperial City, and finally arrived at the Divine Palace located at the very heart of the city.
Around the Divine Palace, there were even more guards. The whole place was heavily guarded.
Stepping into the heavily guarded Divine Palace, they arrived at the main hall's entrance and encountered two warriors. They were ugly in appearance, yet they exuded an aura of formidable authority.
They were Nathan's two sea kings, Toothless and Solo.
Toothless coldly commanded, “Halt!”
Lucius halted, expressing his dissatisfaction, “We are here to see His Majesty. What do you mean by blocking our way?”
Toothless said indifferently, “If you wish to meet His Majesty, you must first announce your intentions and receive his approval. Only then can you enter. Wait here!”
Solo turned and walked into the main hall to report to Nathan.
Lucius' face turned ashen.
Mentzer lowered his voice in anger. “It must be Nathan playing tricks. He's deliberately trying to intimidate us and crush our spirit.”
Lucian said softly to Lola, “Lola, among the four of us, your mental strength is the strongest. When we go in and see Nathan, you should be the first one to probe him. Try to figure out what he's really about.”
Lola confidently said, “All right! I'll know whether he's a true hero or a paper tiger once I test him.”
After a short while, Solo emerged, his voice deep as he said, “His Majesty has spoken. The Four Emperors are to enter.”
With a cold huff, Lucius and a few companions strode in.
Hepburn and the others also went in together.
Inside the Divine Palace, Nathan sat loftily on his throne, surrounded by numerous generals from various clans.
He looked calmly at the Four Emperors who entered.
“One of the Four Emperors, Lucius!”
“One of the Four Emperors, Mentzer!”
“One of the Four Emperors, Fermin!”
“One of the Four Emperors, Lola!”
“Greetings to His Majesty!”
Lucius and the others slightly bowed, paying their respects to Nathan, who was seated on the throne.
There was nothing unusual with Lucius, Mentzer, and Fermin.
Lola alone behaved differently. Right from the start, she had an unusual gleam in her eyes, constantly staring into Nathan's eyes.
Nathan's gaze swept over the Four Emperors, finally landing on Lola. Meeting Lola's eyes, their gazes met.
Sparks flew when their eyes met.
Nathan's body froze instantly. Looking into Lola's deep eyes, he felt as if he had plunged into an endless darkness. His body felt weightless, as if he was floating in boundless darkness. He was even unable to muster any strength in his limbs.
It's a success! Lola's lips curled up in a smile, her face full of secret delight.
She believed that her powerful mental strength had already taken control of Nathan.
However, just as she secretly rejoiced, Nathan immediately launched a counterattack.
Suddenly, the previously dull eyes of Nathan sparkled brightly. Following that, his gaze was no longer vacant but instead became exceptionally sharp.
What? He broke free from my mental control? Lola's face was full of shock.
Among the Four Emperors, her mental strength was the most formidable. Her hypnosis was either unsuccessful or overwhelmingly effective. Once ensnared, very few prey could break free on their own.
It was the first time she had encountered someone like Nathan, who could instantly break free from her control.
Before she could recover from the shock, Nathan's eyes were already emitting a strange red glow.
Before Lola could comprehend what was happening, she was already counter-hypnotized by Nathan's powerful mental strength.
She felt a sudden darkness before her eyes. The surrounding sounds seemed to fade away as if she had plunged into an endless abyss of darkness.
Oh, no! He's counterattacking me with his mental strength! Lola realized something was wrong, but it was already too late.
Surrounded by darkness, she could see nothing but herself. Then, the figure of Nathan emerged from the shadows.
Nathan, with his sword in hand, walked toward her.
Her face changed dramatically. She quickly drew her lightsword and immediately began to duel with Nathan.
In no time, the two had exchanged three hundred blows, but in the end, she was defeated.
Nathan struck her down, severing her head with a single stroke of his sword.
“My head!” She let out a terrified scream.
And then, suddenly, she snapped back to reality.
She was still standing in the middle of the Divine Palace, surrounded by people looking at her with strange expressions.
And there sat Nathan, still high and mighty on his throne, looking at her with a half smile, seemingly mocking her for overestimating her capabilities.
She shivered as she reached up to touch her own neck, instinctively asking, “Is my head still here?”
At that moment, Lucius approached.
He whispered, “You were just immersed in Nathan's mental realm. Did you fight with him there and then get beheaded by him?”
Lola's face instantly turned red after she heard that. She felt utterly embarrassed.
