Salute to the General novel Chapter 446

After dinner, Penny and her family headed back to the hotel.

Nathan told Penny that he was going to meet his old comrade in the East Bay, then he left the hotel by himself.

He hailed a cab at the entrance of the hotel and told the driver, "95 Silent Road, please."

"Sure, no problem," The cab driver replied and drove towards Nathan's destination.

Along the journey, Nathan saw a longhaired beggar sitting by the roadside from the rearview mirror.

Nathan took a second look at the beggar again, then he ignored the beggar and closed his eyes for a rest.

After half an hour, the cab was still speeding down the road.

As the cab made a turn into Silent Road, Nathan woke up from his nap. Through the rearview mirror, he saw the long-haired beggar from the roadside following behind the cab closely.

The beggar had actually chased behind the cab for the entire half an hour ride!

Right then, Nathan let out a slight smile.

Soon, the driver stopped the cab and said, "Sir, we've arrived at 95 Silent Road."

Nathan paid the driver and came out of the cab. He looked around the quiet road and walked towards the mansion with the number 95 embossed on its front gate.

The mansion was intricately decorated with a vermilion gate and two stone lions on both sides of the gate. From the structure and design of the mansion, it was clear that it belonged to someone affluent.

Nathan knocked on the door, and the door was opened almost immediately. A few men in suits greeted him warmly, "Mr. Cross, please come in. Our master has been expecting your arrival for a while."

After that, Nathan went into the typical Southern-style courtyard. Hethen strolled past rows of Firmiana simplex before entering the living hall of the mansion.

In the living hall, sumptuous meals were served. The main course of the meal was stewed beef, while top-notch military wine was served on the side.

A middle-aged man with a muscular physique was waiting for his arrival at the dining table. Although his hair had greyed, he had a pair of bright and sharp eyes that could pierce through any hidden emotions. Not only that, but he also exuded an aura of calmness.

He was the commander-in-chief of the South, Zach Hill!

Zach smiled at Nathan when the former saw him coming in, "Haha...Nathan, you're finally here. The food will be cold if you're not here anytime soon."
