Chapter 291
“Jov?”
Remington was momentarily stunned, but a slight smile began to play at the corners of his lips.
Previously, she was so resistant to telling him about the pregnancy even under pressure.
He knew it was because she had never let go of the Idea of divorcing him and walking away.
Now that she had finally spilled the beans, could it mean that her thoughts had shifted?
Lizetta nodded, taking Remington’s hand and placing it on her belly, looking up at him with a mix of trepidation and nervousness.
“Remi, Joy is the nickname I’ve given our baby; I’ve been pregnant for over three months now.”
Lizetta held her breath as she had just blurted out the news in an emotional whirlwind.
She realized that no matter what, Remington was Joy’s father, and he had the right to know.
If something happened to him and he didn’t even know about the baby, it would be an irreparable regret, both for him and for her and Joy.
But the memory of Remington’s cold response to her previous pregnancy and his indifferent “Get rid of it” weighed heavily on Lizetta’s heart.
She was terrified that Remington’s reaction to the news would not be joy, but anger and cruelty.
Lizetta’s grip on Remington’s hand began to tremble and grow cold as she waited in vain for the burst of happiness she hoped to see on his face.
He seemed so calm, so indifferent
This was not the reaction of a dad–to–be excited about the arrival of his child.
Clearly, he wasn’t looking forward to Joy’s arrival; he didn’t love this child.
Perhaps to him, the baby’s existence was just a take–it–or–leave–it detail, nothing more.
All those thoughts of regret were just her getting carried away, her own emotional climax.
Lizetta’s heart sank bit by bit. Suddenly, she let go of his hand and stood up, ready to bolt.
But before she could take a step, Remington reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist.
His deep voice came from behind, “You’re finally not keeping secrets from me? Lizetta, even if I were dead, don’t you ever dream of letting another man be called daddy by my child!”
His handsome face rested against Lizetta’s lower back, his arms tightening.
Lizetta froze, then slowly grasped the meaning of his words.
She turned around in surprise, “You knew? When did you find out?”
Remington let go and pulled her to sit back down by the bed, his lips curving in a mocking smile, his eyes. dark and deep.
“What do you think? Lizetta, you sure went to great lengths to keep this from me, didn’t you?”

Chapter 291
Under his heavy, accusatory gaze, Lizetta’s palms began to swent with quilt.
She recalled how Remington had chased her back from the airport, persistently asking if she had anything
to tell him.
And in the car, how he had pressured her.
