Remington pursed his lips and grabbed Lizetta’s hand, intertwining their fingers.

Lizetta wasn’t too familiar with Hanna’s relatives, this was new to her. 

Lizetta stopped in her tracks, “Do you suspect that this illness is passed down through the maternal genes?” 

Remington nodded, “Yes, I was afraid I might also carry the recessive gene for the disease and wanted to get it checked out. That’s why I said what I did before the results came in.” 

Lizetta’s face went pale for a moment, then she gripped Remington’s hand tightly. 

“So, have the results come in yet?” 

Remington leaned down and gently kissed Lizetta’s trembling lips, “Don’t worry, Joy will be perfectly healthy.” 

The tests came back good; Joseph’s leukemia wasn’t due to a genetic defect. 

Lizetta’s heart, which had been in her throat, settled back down. 

Shocked to her core, she felt weak at the knees and nestled into Remington’s embrace, becoming quite 

docile. 

In the quiet hospital room, the sounds got steamier by the second. 

Lizetta tilted her head back, going from resisting to unconsciously wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing into his kiss. 

Remington’s hand, no longer dry but burning hot, slipped under Lizetta’s loose sweater, eagerly roaming over her soft, delicate back. 

Just as his fingers were deftly undoing her bra clasp, the hospital room door suddenly swung open. 

“Dr. Isaac, please.”
