Chapter 311
Lizetta was just beginning to grasp what Remington was trying to say, but she wasn’t quite ready to go public with her pregnancy yet. Especially since she hadn’t fully decided to stay just before Granny and the others arrived.
Her heart fluttered with anxiety, and she quickly looked up at Remington
He was gazing at her, his smile reaching his deep, soulful eyes as he reached out to hold her right hand.
Their fingers intertwined slowly, locking together.
His hand was so broad and warm, a reassurance that reminded her of how, as a child, as long as her brother was holding her hand, she felt she could face any hardship.
At that moment, Lizetta’s fluttering heart calmed down.
She smiled, nodding slightly at him.
“What’s the good news? Come on, spit it out”
Watching Lizetta and Remington smile at each other hand in hand, Fiona looked thoughtful and immediately urged them on.
Hanna, however, furrowed her brows. What kind of good news could there possibly be at a time like this?
It was obvious – the two were not going to divorce.
She felt a headache coming on and interjected, “Mom, let’s check on Remington’s injury first. The rest can wait.”
Before Hanna could finish, Fiona, imitated, slammed her cane on the floor.
“He’s sitting right here, and anyone with h eyes can see he’s fine. Can’t you go a minute without causing trouble?”
Fiona didn’t spare Hanna any dignity, and Hanna’s face turned green as she looked at Remington for help, seeking a way out.
But Remington wasn’t looking at her, instead, he turned to Lizetta with a gentle smile.
Fiona, too, looked at Lizetta with a warm smile, “Liz,
They were a picture of happiness, leaving Hanna out in the cold.
Hanna didn’t want to hear about any happy news‘ of them not divorcing. She turned around, stormed out
Just then, Remington’s voice, deeper than usual and filled with a rare joy, called out from behind.
“Granny, she’s shy, let me tell you. Liz is pregnant, the baby’s been with us for over three months now. Granny, I’m going to be a father, and you’re going to be a great–grandmother.”
Although Fiona had sensed from the young couple’s expressions that it was more than just not divorcing, she hadn’t expected Lizetta to be pregnant
Fiona froze for a moment before her face lit up with joy, amused and delighted by Remington’s eagerness to share the news of his impending fatherhood with the world.
Fiona got up from her chair, pushed Remington ag held it tightly, asking. Liz is it true?”
sat next to Lizetta 1. She snatched Lizetta’s hand from Remington’s grasp and
Lizetta’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment and quilt, hardd daring to meet Fiona’s joyful gaze.
She nodded, “Granny, I’m sorry. Even though I knew how much you hoped Remi and I would have a baby, I still hid it from you.”
Unable to lift her head from shame, Granny embraced her, comforting her back.
“Child, you’ve been through so much.”
Granny understood the immense pressure and disappointment that must have been felt to decide on hiding the pregnancy and raising the child alone.
“Silly girl, I’m too happy and concerned to blame you. It’s wonderful you’re pregnant!”
Then, a soft noise made Lizetta look up.
