Chapter 343
Jerome hesitated for a moment before deciding to disconnect the call
After all, picking up someone else’s call without a second thought wasn’t exactly polite–it was best not to stir up anymore misunderstandings
On the other end of the line, Remington stared at the disconnected call, a crease forming between his brows.
He was standing at the end of the hospital comidor, in front of a window that offered a clear view of the emergency department
entrance
Just moments ago, he thought he saw a familiar figure being cared into the emergency room by another man
Why wasn’t she answering her phone?
As Remington was about to call again, a woman’s voice come from behind him.
“Remington, my mom’s awake. She asked me to come and get you”
Hearing this, Remington turned around, nodded at the woman, and pocketed his phone.
He then made his way toward the ward,
Lizetta was supposed to be at the family mansion, how could she be the one rushed to the emergency room?
Ignonng his call must be her way of showing she was upset he missed their lunch date.
Just like when they were kids, she hardly ever lost her temper with anyone
But she always managed to throw a little fit at him from time to time, yet she was so easy to appease
With these thoughts, a soft smile spread across Remington’s face.
He pushed open the ward door, and the smile gradually faded away.
In the ER, Lizetta lay on the hospital bed, her face pale, though she looked calm, albeit incredibly weak.
“The expectant mother experienced acute abdominal pain due to extreme emotional distress and panic, leading to an autonomic dysfunction that caused gastrointestinal spasms. It’s nothing serious,” the doctor explained.
Lizetta forced a bitter smile with her pale lips.
Fords
No matter how much she tried to convince herself not to believe Evelina’s one–sided story, the fear and hurt Evelina’s words had caused were physically manifesting, something she couldn’t simply ignore.
To think that loving someone deeply could affect her to this extent.
But the taste of this love had become too bitter, she no longer wished to be swayed by his every mood.
“As she’s pregnant, it’s best to avoid medication. Come here, I’ll show you how to alleviate her pain,” the doctor instructed Hamilton.
Hamilton eagerly stepped forward. “Where should I press?”
As the doctor explained, Hamilton paid close attention, nodding along
The doctor complimented him, “You really care for your wife, don’t you? Try not to upset her too much. Pregnant women are naturally sensitive; another episode like this could lead to serious complications”
Just as Lizetta was about to clarify, Hamilton extended his hand in a promise.
“I wouldn’t dare. Thank you so much.”
He then winked at Lizetta, who decided not to offer any further explanation.
“All night, help her to the temporary ward to rest. She can leave once she’s feeling better” the doctor said before leaving.
Lizetta managed to sit up with some effort.
“Hamilton, thank you for today. I’m feeling much better.”
Hamilton sat down next to Lizetta and took her hand, massaging the pressure points as the doctor had shown him.
“Girl, what happened to you? Next time, please don’t just run into the street carelessly; it’s too dangerous.”
Lizetta nodded with a smile, gently withdrawing her hand.
1 can do it myself. The man who came with you to the hospital, your brother, please thank him for me too!
She obviously didn’t want to delve into her own issues, so Hamilton, hesitating, decided not to pry further
