HELIOS went out early to visit Grant’s twin brother, but those guards outside Gunner’s room were already dead when they arrived. They didn’t see any gunshots because all his men were drugged to death, and Gunner was missing.
“Damn that, Bill!” Grant murmured as he punched the wall.
Ali approached him and touched his left shoulder. “Calm down, Grant. Don’t let your rage eat you.”
“How the shits I can calm down? He took Gun—he took my brother!”
Helios then let Ali calm his cousin. He massages his temple. Bill is getting on his nerves.
“He already found out that we knew his plan and Gunner’s betrayal! And I’m sure he’ll kill Gun! That psychopath will think that Gunner talked about his plans to us. Fuck!”
"We need to go back," said Helios.
"Where to?" asked Calyx.
“At home,” Helios replied and twitched the doorknob, and went out of the room. He pulled out his cell phone and called someone to remove the corpses inside the room before the police could see them.
When he hung up, his phone rang again. He frowned when a familiar name appeared on his phone screen.
*Mrs. Levine*
"Mom," he started.
“Helios… have you seen Amanda? She’s with Beige. They went out last night, and they didn’t get back here until now.” There’s a tone of concern in the old lady’s voice.
“No. Why did they leave? Didn’t they tell you where they should go?”
He heard Aunt Millie’s voice on the other line, and it seemed like she was crying.
“No. We went out yesterday, and we left them here. The guards said they got inside a car with her son. They didn’t ask permission to get out. Even to the butler.”
"Have you checked the surveillance cameras?"
"Yes. And there is something you need to see. Can... can you come over, son?"
"In a minute, mom," he replied.
He dropped the call and walked fast. His friends then followed his pace.
He hopped in his auto and started the engine. In a hurry, he then maneuvered the car away from the hospital.
When they arrived at the mansion she bought for Zoe’s family, Mrs. Levine was outside, comforting her friend.
They were restless because they were worried about their grandson. Amanda has never left the mansion since she got back. Without her saying goodbye, there’s something suspicious about it. And what was scary was what they saw on the Closed-Circuit Television.
Mrs. Levine guided them inside the control room. The man in the suit immediately showed the surveillance camera footage surrounding the area.
Helios frowned when he saw the car, tailing the car where Amanda was, it was a few meters away from the girl’s car.
“It’s been a few days since that car lurked around the mansion,” said Mrs. Levine.
The man then showed the camera footage of the past few days. Mrs. Levine went closer and pressed something. The video stopped, and Helios was stunned.
“And this man—"
Mrs. Levine didn’t finish what he would say when Helios suddenly cursed and left the control room.
Calyx then chased Helios.
"Dude, what's the rush?"
Helios opened the door of his car and got in. Before he closed the door, he spoke, “I have a bad feeling about this. We need to go back to my house,” he said and closed the door.
He drives the car swiftly. He took his phone and dialed Zoe’s number, but it couldn’t be reached. He tightened his grip on the steering wheel and tried to dial Bea’s number, but it was still the same—he couldn’t be reached. So, he called their landline. It rang for seconds before someone answered it.
“Where’s Zoe?”
“Sir, they left, together with her friends—” He ended the call and cursed under his breath.
The next thing he did was call Claus—the head of his bodyguards’. He wears his earpiece.
"Claus! Where's Zoe?"
"Gone out, Sir—”
“Damn it! Why did you let them go outside the house?!” he shouted and ended the call.
The gate opened when he was near his mansion, and he entered. He stopped in front of the big wooden door and quickly climbed down.
He was ignited with anger when he approached Claus. Because of rage, he threw a punch at the guy’s face.
“Fuck it, Claus! Fuck it!” he cussed. He was going to throw more punches when Calyx pulled him away.
“What the hell, dude? If you kill Claus now, will Zoe show up? Damn it! Calm down and think!” said Calyx.
Silence prevailed, and all he could hear was his heavy breathing. And the silence crashed when his phone rang.
An unknown number flashed on the screen.
“How are you, Lincoln?” asked the voice on the other line.
"Fuck you, Bill! Where's Zoe and my daughter!"
The man on the other line laughed. “What are you talking about?”
Helios’s nails sunk into his palm because of his tight grip. "Don't you ever lay a finger on them, Bill?"
“My, my, my… Come on, Helios, feel my wrath. I’ll give you until seven o’clock to show you. If you want to see your beautiful wife-to-be and lovely daughter—"
“Don’t touch my daughter!” said a woman's voice on the other line.
“Chill, baby. I won’t hurt her… if you allow me to touch you—"
“Fuck it, Bill! Don’t touch what is mine!” Helios growled. His breathing became heavy.
The man on the other line laughed demonically.
“Follow what I’ve just said, Helios. 7 pm sharp. Don’t ever try to report this to the police. You might not be able to find your woman and your daughter alive,” said Bill and laughed again.
Loud cries can be heard on the other line.
“Where can I find you?” asked Helios.
Bill snorted. “Show me how smart you are, lover boy. Track us, Helios. If you don’t arrive at exactly seven o’clock… the whole building will explode. And, Helios, each of them has a bomb, hugging their bodies—even your daughter. So, quick and track as down… if you can,” said Bill and ended the call.
Helios fell to his knees because of frustration. He feels like he’s a useless jerk. He didn’t see it coming. He was so at ease that he could protect Zoe and their daughter.
He didn’t think that the man he was dealing with was a total lunatic.
“Start tracking the call,” he said, almost whispering. He is weakening.
His companion inside obeyed and began the search. Calyx picked up his cell phone that had fallen from his grip and handed it to Claus.
They started to find the caller's location, but they found nothing. The number has no longer existed.
Helios stood up and went outside. He climbed upstairs and entered the room beside his office.
Different types of guns welcomed him. The room is a man cave. A luxurious gun room man cave. It is equipped with expensive and high-end items. There are wooden cabinets, sofas, wall décor, chandeliers, floor mats, decorations, pictures, shot glasses, liquor dispensers, and pool tables. His man cave is full of tactical guns, rifles, knives, explosives, and many more.
He is always ready for a battle. He was born for it. But things became different when he started to fall in love. He's a human, too, and even if his heart is hard like metal, there's still someone who can melt it and make him feel like he was the luckiest man alive.
That’s why he’s nothing letting the chance he can to achieve the happiness he dreamt of. He pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes. Trying to calm himself. If he acted rashly, he might not be able to save them. So, he better need to calm himself and think.
