Sold To A Billionaire novel Chapter 59

“CONGRATS, dude!” When Grant approaches Helios, who was in the midst of a conversation with some investors who had come to the engagement, he greets him loudly.
Upon hearing this, a frown formed on Helios’s forehead. Chloe accidentally brushed his shoulder while she was responding to his question, “What are you doing here?”
Chloe reprimanded her by saying, “Babe, you are being so unkind to your cousin.”
Because of the way Chloe’s voice sounded at this very moment, Grant had the urge to throw up.
Grant brought his lips together and gave a smirk that was barely perceptible. “Yeah. Helios, you are such a jerk. Anyway, Chloe, would it be possible for me to borrow your future husband for just a second?” he inquired.
Chloe gave a radiant grin and gave a confident nod. She responded by saying, “Of course, I am aware that you will not take him away from me.”
Grant let out a sarcastic chuckle. “Of course not….” He mocked Chloe while flipping his imaginary hair and adding, “—he’s not my type.”
Chloe was the target of his mockery.
Helios looked at Grant and dragged him outside, shaking his head in disbelief. Before he made his decision to speak, he looked around for a clear coast.
“What is it all about?” Helios asked soon as he was sure that no one could hear them.
Grant tucked his tie inside his jacket and slid his hands into his pockets. “It is time for you to depart right away, Helios.”
The tone of concern in Grant’s voice was clear for Helios to pick up on. When he last saw him, he was engaging in mockery; however, it appears that Grant has discovered something.
A frown could be seen on Helios’ face as he crisscrossed his arms in front of his chest. “What brought this on so quickly? After the engagement party, the title will be passed down from my father,” he explained.
Grant brought his right palm up to his chin and wiped it. “As I was passing by—”
“You mean you did it again?” After Helios’s interruption, Grant’s brow furrowed in concentration.
“W-What—”
“It was the listening in—the eavesdropping,” Helios explained.
Grant gave a hushed chuckle before looking around the room. He responded by saying, “You know me so well, cousin.”
“Can you tell me what you heard?”
Directly addressing the matter, Grant stated that “Uncle won’t pass the title, not after the wedding.”
Helios’s jaw tightened as he clenched his fist in frustration. “Are you certain that this is the case?”
“The matter is of concern to you and Zoe, so why am I uncertain?”
Helios clenched his teeth in determination. “I’m done with it.”
“Because of this, I’m advising you to run away as quickly as you can.”
“What?!”
Grant took a quick glance around before turning his anger toward Helios. “Seriously? Do you want them to be able to find us?
At that precise moment, anger welled up inside Helios.
“Your father has a dry sense of humor. He’s witty. Perhaps he was aware of our intentions.”
“How?” Helios gave a little shake of the head. “There’s no way that this is going to happen.”
Grant made a snapping sound with his fingers. “Exactly. That’s why I’m going to suggest a solution to the problem,” he explained.
“Escape?” Helios asked and scoffed. “What would be the point of escaping?”
Grant looked at Helios with eyes filled with confusion as he continued to stare at him. “Are you for real? Can’t you get it? So, before you go back to Zoe, you want to get married first…?” It was his way of saying, “I don’t know if you’re dumb or stupid.”
Helios drew his brows together. “It had the same meaning either way.”
Grant let out a sigh. “Whatever. Now, keep a clear head. The clock is ticking,” he stated emphatically.
“Escaping is not in my vocabulary—”
“There is no other option available to you at this time. What are you going to do about your father? Don’t tell me you will fight him?”
Helios made a sly smirk. The response he gave was, “I’m sure I can.”
“Zoe is pregnant, Helios. What are the odds that your father won’t turn her against you?”
“If that’s the case, I’ll watch out for them no matter what.”
Grant made a shaky motion with his head. “Do not be so obstinate. Helios, the current state of your forces is very poor. In spite of the fact that you claim to have reapers—”
“They are assassins.” Helios corrected Grant. “And they’re right here in the surrounding. You were aware, as well, that I watch over Zoe and her family in addition to your own. Even her friend, Cindy.”
“Oh, that cheeky monkey. Calyx is a member of our group. Surely, he will be able to find a way to keep his girl safe.”
“So do I.”
Grant let out a long, heavy sigh. “We cannot afford to relax. Do you not long for quality time with Zoe...? Even if only for the time being?”
Helios was aware that Grant had a firm grasp on what was optimal. Even though Grant’s fighting abilities aren’t particularly impressive, his strategic planning abilities make him a valuable asset.
“Cover your tracks for a while. I give you my word that I will assist you in putting together our coalition. Also, Chloe’s brother can be a difficult person to get along with. This pertains not only to your father but also to those who have wronged you—the enemies of the clan. Now that they are aware that you are involved with Chloe, they will approach her, and Chloe’s brother will be diverted from fending off your adversaries by having to deal with them. You will have more time to spend with Zoe... until the time comes when she gives birth to your child.”
Helios pinched the bridge of his nose together. “The date for the wedding will be announced next week.”
“Perfect. There is still time for you to get ready. Now, think of a place where your father will not be able to locate you,” Grant instructed.
Helios laughed quietly to himself. “I’m quite popular, Grant. No matter where I am...”
Grant responded with a grin. “Boastful. You have dollars in your hands right now. A significant number of zeros in your bank accounts. Take out an amount of money that will cover your expenditures for the next five years—”
“I’m afraid not. To the same extent as any transactions, I am in charge of my finances. I’ll be ready to fight if Father comes looking for us,” Helios replied.
Grant smiled and nodded. “If... it is your father,” she said. “What if it turns out to be your rival?” he added.
Helios formed a sly grin on his lips as he said this. “Then better. With that… I will never feel guilty about it.”
“So, which country would that be?”
When Helios responded with “Philippines,” Grant’s eyes widened in surprise.
“PH? Do you have any knowledge of that country? And the distance is too long.”
“I’ve been there a total of three times.”
Grant’s jaw dropped. “What? And you never bring me?” he inquired.
Helios wore a frown. “What would be the point of bringing you?”
“I am your favorite cousin—”
“Simply because I needed you.”
“Ouch!” Grant clutched his chest and acted as though he was in pain. He shot Helios an angry look. “I wonder what it is about you that Zoe loves. What exactly did she see in you that attracted her? Simply put, if I were a woman, I could never have feelings for you. You can fuck me, but you can’t love—” When Helios turned his back on Grant and began to walk away from him, Grant was unable to finish what he was saying.
When Grant realized what he had said, he scratched the back of his head in confusion. “Damn,” he muttered under his breath.
Helios could feel the coldness of the air while he walked toward the reception hall. It’s cold like him but seeks warmth that comes from Zoe. He knew that life has many obstacles. And God will test him no matter what. He always thinks that it’s just a test for him—for Zoe. God seems to be trying on how he will solve his problems.
There is no perfect life. There is no complete happiness.
“Helios! Wait for me!” It was Grant's voice, but Helios never bothered to stop and look back.
