Grace held on to Sabrina's hand, tears suddenly flowing as she said weakly, "Sabbie, you're finally here?"
"Mother..." Sabrina sobbed quietly, "I’m sorry mother, I had some things to deal with today, that's why I'm
late."
She had rushed over from the construction site, only t o be confronted by Lincoln at the bus stop. She had walked a distance after that in a daze, before only getting onto the bus at the next stop.
That was why she was late to her visit.
Knowing that Grace’s illness was worsening, Sabrina wanted nothing more than to stay by Grace’s side, but she could not lose her job either. No matter how exhausting and tedious that job was, it was still work. 1
As a woman who had only recently gotten out of jail, it was very difficult to find a job, so she could not give this up. She crawled over to Grace's side as she repeated over and over, "I'm sorry mother, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...”
"I’m fine, Sabbie. I know that you’re a hardworking child. You can’t lose your job. A woman should be independent no matter what. I'm already approaching the end of my life, you don't have to give up your work for me." Grace understood Sabrina's situation well.
Sabrina wept in sorrow.
"Don't cry.” Grace wiped Sabrina's tears haggardly with her arm. "Sabbie, can you promise me something?"
Sabrina nodded frantically. "Tell me, mother. It doesn't just have to be one thing, I don't mind even if you have ten requests." 1
"Sebastian..." Grace panted as she spoke. "I know that Sebastian is a cold and distant person. It's all because of his environment growing up. Sebastian wasn't even acknowledged by the Ford family ten years ago. After he was finally accepted, he was not allowed to be a successor. He was ostracized by the family, some even attempted to kill him.
"That is why he is so cold and emotionless now.
"But Sebastian is actually a good man.
"Slowly warm up to him, he will open up to you."
