Still Wanna Escape After Stealing My Heart? novel Chapter 1269

Had he not known that Lori was already around the age of twenty-five, Marcus would have thought that the woman before him was in her forties at most. She was dressed in an exquisite and elegant dress that gave her an air of extravagance with no trace of hardship in life. The only thing one would notice apart from how privileged she was, was her sense of superiority. Marcus was reminded of his Aunt Gloria.

His Aunt Gloria was a kin of the Shaw Family in every sense of the way, but had been discriminated against, humiliated, and exiled to the point that she couldn't even step foot in her own home. She had been looked down upon ever since the day she was born. Despite her love for music at the age of eighteen, she had to drop out from school because her mother was terminally ill with no money to spare. Since then, she started her life wandering. Just like Jennie, Gloria had met the wrong man and ended up marrying someone she couldn't depend on, but she was far less fortunate than the woman before Marcus's eyes.

Jennie married the wrong person and accidentally ended up with a child, but still, she had enormous financial support throughout the year that helped to maintain a more than comfortable lifestyle overseas. But what about Gloria? Gloria ended up in a remote area in the mountains, working days and nights with her husband while putting up with being bullied. In

the end, she was imprisoned and intended on spending the rest of her life under the sewers, never to show her face before her daughter again. She was afraid that she might affect the happiness her daughter had finally found.

The disparity between the two women had once again ignited the fire that was just put out in Marcus's heart.

"Mm," he hummed emotionlessly, and refused to look Jennie directly in the eyes.

"Marcus, this is your Aunt Jennie, Dad's cousin." Mr. Shaw reminded, as though to warn Marcus to watch his attitude.

"Hi, Auntie," Marcus greeted, monotonously.

Jennie looked at him with a smile. "You might not recognize me, Marcus, but Auntie used to be as close a s actual siblings, your father cared most about me. If there's a piece of candy, your dad would definitely save it for me." When she spoke, a sense of superiority subconsciously appeared in her expression. It was something that she was born with from the pampering she received from a young age.

Marcus only looked at her silently.
