She felt great, for Jane.
"Can I say that she deserves it?" Sabrina said.
"Of course!" Marcus chuckled. "It wasn't after this that I heard about the fact that this woman travelled around the world with Mr. Poole supporting her financially the entire time. She became extremely arrogant from the pampering she received. Why did she think that she could come back to be his wife after being gone for so many years? Did she see everyone as fools? It's time she suffers and cries for what she did."
Sabrina felt consoled in ways she couldn't describe in words. She silently prayed for Jane in her heart. "Stay alive, Jane, you have to stay alive so that Alex could make it up to you for the rest of his life and treat you like a queen when you come back! Smash those people who had once harmed you, Jane!"
Later that night, the thought of Jane still lingered in Sabrina's mind, even in her sleep. She mumbled, "I wonder what is happening with Jane and her pregnancy."
Sebastian's heart ached at the mindless words from the woman next to him. He knew that the reason why Sabrina cared so much for Jane was mostly because Jane was pregnant, which was exactly what Sabrina went through six years ago. Only Sabrina, who had
survived out there while being pregnant, knew just how difficult it was. It was something that ordinary people couldn't begin to imagine. Sebastian had no idea as to how much pain Sabrina had suffered through, and at that very moment, all he could do was t o wrap his arms tightly around her and allow her to seek refuge in his embrace.
Sabrina seemed to feel much safer in his arms and her dreams faded away. On Monday, Sabrina was reenergized. When she sent Aino off to kindergarten, she saw Jennifer's mother again. Of course, Sabrina had already known through other sources that the woman was called Lori Gibson by then. Lori didn't know who her father was and therefore, took on her mother's family name; and so did her daughter.
Sabrina smiled gently at Lori as though to greet her, but Lori remained her usual cold and distant demeanor. Her expression read "You might be rich, but I have my pride. I refuse to mingle with wealthy housewives, what can you do about it?"
Sabrina paid no mind to her. She had learnt from Sebastian's shrewdness for the past year or so that she spent with the man.
She headed back to the office and started focusing on work. It wasn't until lunch time that she found the time to ask Ruth, who had already become half an architectural designer.
"Spill! What did you do over the weekend?" "I followed Ryan back to Kidon City to see his parents,"
Ruth said.
Sabrina was taken by surprise.
"Sabrina, do you think I should marry into such a wealthy family? There wasn't any pressure back then, but when I met with them over the weekend, you have no idea how horrified I was. I didn't dare to make a sound when I ate, nor could I take my shoes off or prop my hands on my hip. I...I am a little firecracker, how could I become a housewife of a wealthy family?"
Sabrina didn't know what to say. She knew that marrying into a wealthy family would be difficult.
"Sigh...coming to think of it, it's probably not all bad that Jane left Ryan's uncle. What do you say, Sabrina?" Ruth asked with mixed feelings.
Coincidentally, that was when Sabrina's phone rang. She looked and saw that it was from an unknown number. Confused, she picked it up and said, "Hello, who is this?"
A familiar voice came through the other side of the line. "How are you, Sabrina?"
