"Not a monster! I'm human!" The dark figure shouted. When Sabrina went for a closer inspection, she realized that it was a person dressed in black, black shirt and trousers, curled up against the door. With his position, there was no telling if he was human or a monster at first sight.
The person looked up with an extremely exhausted expression. "I missed it again, Sabrina."
"Alex?"
He chuckled pathetically. "You didn't think that I would show up at your door in the morning two times i n a row, did you?"
Sabrina was dumbfounded.
"Jane has learnt how to be sly. The location she called you last time with that number led me to a graveyard. I have searched inside every bush and behind every tree on that mountain, but apart from graves and weed, there weren't even wild animals, not to mention people."
Sabrina was relieved. She had been worried that things might worsen if Alex managed to find Jane, so the fact that he didn't work out for the best. She went and called Sebastian down to help Alex, who was drunk to the point that he could barely stand, into the house and onto the sofa.
Aino, who had just woken up, stood in front of Alex." Uncle Alex, you look like a wreck right now."
"Isn't that right! You Uncle Alex is a wreck!" Alex said.
"You look so dirty, like a little ball of dirt. Say, Uncle Alex, why would you ask Aunt Jane to leave? Back when she was with you, you were so clean and well-dressed. Now without Aunt Jane taking care of you, you become like this. Not handsome at all and you even look like a little old man." Aino pinched her nose. "You stink, Uncle Alex. Not only did you drink alcohol, you didn't shower. You stink like alcohol. You are smellier and dirtier than beggars."
Alex was speechless. When did Alex Poole, the tall, well-dressed and almighty man, degrade to being mocked in such a way? He lifted his gaze to look at the rude little child before him, and tears immediately started welling up in his eyes.
It had been a month. He had sent countless people out for the search, but Jane was still nowhere to be found. She had gotten pregnant right before she left, by now, she should be two months into the pregnancy. Was her belly starting to show? How would she look with a big belly? Would adorable freckles begin to grow on her cheek? By the time the baby was almost due, would she be able to walk around? Would there be anyone to help her? Would her feet get swollen?
Would there be someone to wash her feet for her? Alex hadn't a clue.
Back then, she was always the one who washed his feet for him, before putting his feet on her lap and messaging them for him. However, as partners, he had ever washed her feet for her as her partner. He didn't know if her feet hurt as she was sometimes required t o walk back and forth in between guests in pointy heels when she followed him to parties. Has she ever come home with her feet hurting? He didn't know, because he never asked about it. He was always the one who enjoyed everything when they came back from every single party. He enjoyed her massaging his body, his head, shoulders and feet. But with her being pregnant, she probably wouldn't be able to wear heels anymore.
