Cindy immediately dragged her dress along the floor i n an attempt to run.
"Get back here!" Alex barked coldly.
Startled, Cindy started trembling as she turned around to look at him in tears, "Mr. P- Mr. Poole, I won't do it again...”
"You forgot to apologize to my date!"
"It's fine..." Jane said.
Alex did not say another word, and simply stared at Cindy with his chilling glare.
At that very moment, Cindy felt like hiding away in a hole. She had spent so many years and hard work in building herself into a cool and distant character, simply because she wanted to be picked by the most powerful man of Kidon City one day when she heard that Alex was still single. Never had she imagined that, despite how difficult it had been for her to get into the event hall, Alex did not even look at her for the two hours that she was there. She was out of ideas and therefore resorted to pretending that she was rushing out of the party over a phone call.
Anyone else would not suspect a thing at the scene, but Alex was not having it. Not only did he see right
through it, he even had to humiliate her. If she refused to apologize, Cindy knew that she would not be able to escape. In the end, she bowed her head at Jane and said, "I'm sorry, Miss, I was wrong. Please forgive me."
However, her apology was not enough. After that incident, Alex had blacklisted Cindy and forbad her to ever appear in Kidon City again. His justification for the punishment was that Cindy kept showing up in front of him throughout the party with a glass in her hand so many times that he felt dizzy and disgusted a then
The incident had created quite a spectrum in Kidon City's entertainment industry. Since then, the entire city learnt that, although Alex seemed calm and gentle, like he did not have a mean bone in his body, h e was truly merciless when it came to women, and would not hold back against them. People that were closer to him knew that there was only the only person in the world who could make Alex a gentleman, and that person was the little princess overseas, Lily Parker. All the men under Alex's command recognized it as a fact. However, that fact was denied that day, when Alex said that he was going to look for his wife, the mother of his child, Jane.
Garrett knew Jane best among them. She was a great woman who suffered horribly. He could not help but hesitate when he saw how insistent his master was at going to look for her in the north-eastern direction himself. "Master, you..." "What? Is that something that concerns you?" Alex
questioned.
"The work at Kidon City..."
"That's something you should worry about. Even if I a m not in Kidon City, I can still manage everything remotely!" He reassured him coldly.
"Yes, Master Alex..." Not daring to say another word against him, Garrett commanded the drivers of the cars where his subordinates were in, "Let's go!"
The cars started driving toward the north-eastern direction and, as soon as they departed, another car followed closely behind.
The driver asked in confusion, "Miss, what are you..." "Follow the cars ahead! I'll pay you ten million once w e are there!" Lily stared intently at the cars that drove off into the distance.
