The driver that drove the car Lily was in was the best investigator she picked from Axel's subordinates, and therefore managed to remain undercover the entire time they followed Alex's car. However, they did not get very far before she realized the cars that followed Alex slowly went into separate ways. Some drove off into the valley and some made turns toward other towns, leaving only Alex's car to drive along the highway towards the north-eastern direction.
"Miss, what is Mr. Poole..." the driver asked in confusion.
Lily, too, was puzzled at what Alex was planning to do. She simply commanded the driver, "Keep following him! You go wherever Alex goes!"
"Yes, Miss!"
Alex did not notice that he was being followed, as his entire mind was on Jane. He was there to search for his wife, not to go to war, and hence had not thought o f the possibility of being followed by Lily. On top of that, the driver he used today was not the sharp-witted one that guarded him most of the time, but another person.
Alex started commanding his team remotely on his way toward the north-eastern direction, "We are going to split up. Remember to be secretive. Do not alert the locals, or worse, scare her. Andrew, you won't be my
driver this time. You are the one who saw her most, and you are familiar with her, so you and I are going to split up to search for her. Commander Zandra, you also know her quite well, so the three of us need to split up to look. Remember, we must go undercover. W e can't be noticed or alert the locals in any way. Report to me at once when you find something."
All his men went off at his command and, with his new driver, Andrew, Alex took off to the most remote town in the north-eastern direction. From that point onward, he had to stay in control of his duty in Kidon City remotely, while he settled down to search for his wife.
His wife. For the many years Alex had spent with Jane, he had never thought of her as his wife, as he was certain that his wife was Lily. It was not until Jane disappeared from his side that he realized how important she was. He had to find Jane even if it took a lifetime, and if he could not find her alive, he would search for her corpse if necessary.
Half a month later, Alex had stayed in the most remote town of the north-eastern direction for an entire week. It was freezing cold and the thin layers of the jacket he wore from Kidon City had been replaced by a thick trench coat. He would have his driver drive around town through every street and alleys every single day, and would sometimes stand by bus stops b y himself just to watch as people walked past him, thinking, "Is Jane in the bustling crowd? Maybe."
Alex was certain that Jane was in this area. He would focus on women that were around the same age, same skin color or style as Jane, but then feel disappointed when someone like that went away. After over a week's time of disappointment, he finally saw hope at one of the bus stops. The woman he saw was dressed i n a light pink windcoat with a slim and tall figure. She looked gentle and elegant with her hair tied up and was seen getting out of a private vehicle near the bus stop.
