"Your one million," Alex replied calmly.
Startled, Jane backed off. "I... I didn't ask you for money. I... I won't ask for a penny from you, don't worry."
"Didn't you say so yourself, that you've worked for almost eight years as a maid at my house? A maid should be paid every month and one million shouldn't be too much for the past seven years."
"Take it, you've earned this."
Jane still refused to take the card.
"I'm Alex Poole, I can't have people thinking that I am someone who would owe a maid her salary despite m y enormous wealth, so just take it."
With that, Jane finally accepted the card hesitantly. But then, he pulled out another card and presented it t o her. Both Jane and Noah were confused. She gazed u p at him and asked, "Wh-why are... you giving me another?"
"Alimony."
"You said so yourself. You have always been the one who took protection and I've never done so. I am the
one to blame for your pregnancy and for how damaged your body is right now. It's my child in your belly and when you give birth to it, I have legal obligations to it as well, don’t I?
"I... I told you, I won't blackmail you with my child. I will never use my child as leverage.
