Each and every sentence was stabbing Hana in the heart.
That afternoon, Hana went back alone to the village where she and Hector had lived. In the end, the villagers told Hana that Hector had not been living there for a very long time. He had bought a house at the intersection between the city and the suburbs of South City. He even opened a store there and had been doing quite well in the past few years. Hana then hid i n the poor house that they had originally been living i n, and cried inconsolably while hugging some of the small clothes that her daughter had left behind.
What had she done wrong for the Heavens to punish her like that? She had lost her mother growing up. She then lived an incomparably poor and miserable life with her father. After she grew up a little, her father married her stepmother, and she began abusing her. She was finally saved by someone with great difficulty, but that person caused her a lifetime of misery instead. At that point, her reputation had been tattered. She was labeled as a sl*t, wh*re, a woman who had never taken care of her daughter, and many other names. She could ignore all of that. However, her daughter did not wish to acknowledge her as her mother. At that moment, Hana even had the thought o f killing someone. Right at that time, Hector came, i "I knew you would hide here. Hana Sharpe! You
brought this on yourself!" A very well-dressed Hector, who was dressing in casual clothes, appeared coldly i n front of Hana.
"What exactly have I done wrong? I was the one who gave birth to my daughter. The family properties were my hard-earned money. Hector, what exactly have I done wrong?” Hana looked at Hector with tearful eyes.
Hector sneered. "Hana Sharpe! You were wrong to be flirting with those men behind my back! It is your fault to have men after men who liked you! When you replenished your stocks in the middle of the night! When you got on the train while carrying such a big bag, if it weren't for those men who helped you, could you have gotten on the train yourself?
"You were in the wrong to be having an affair with that d*mned young man behind my back! Look at how sl*tty you and he behaved in bed! Hana Sharpe, look at how sl*tty you were! You were absolutely born to be a call girl! You were even cheaper than those call girls! They were selling their body for money, but what about you? Not only did you spread your legs wide, but you took the initiative to greet the man! You even lose money instead of being paid! Do you think your man i s dead?"
Hana cried and gritted her teeth. "Hector Laven! Are you even my mane? We're not married! You are not my husband!"
"So?" Hector sneered viciously. "My daughter is mine alone. She is not yours!"
"I want to take you to court!" Hana said.
"Take me to court? Go ahead! I will give the photos to the judge and see who the judge would favor!”
"Do it! Give it to the judge." Hana had already gone all out. She was only thinking of getting custody of her daughter. She wanted to live together with her daughter and never be apart again! It did not matter if the intimate photos of her being in bed with another man were made public or if it was brought to court!
"You d*mned woman are so shameless? A person as shameless as you truly don't care about the consequences at all! Are you not afraid that I will spread these photos of you sleeping with another man and being naked to every corner of the streets?"
"I'm not afraid!" Hana said, as her tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Are you not even going to consider your daughter's feelings?" Hector asked. "Have you thought about it? She is going to college soon. After studying for four years, she can then get a job in a big company in South City. After that, she can find a decent boyfriend and get married. She can buy a house in the heart of South City, and then have maybe a couple of children. She can live happily for the rest of her life. Don’t you want that for her?
"Oh! I know! After all, she is not your daughter. She is my daughter! Therefore, you can't wait for my daughter to find out that her mother’s naked photos were all over the streets when she is going to college soon. After that, you can't wait for her to fail to complete her studies, can't wait for her to go crazy because of this matter and have her future ruined from then on!"
Hana could not bear to listen to Hector saying that. She held on to Hector’s leg. "Please, I'm begging you to stop saying that! My daughter...! won't try to have her acknowledge me as her mother anymore! Please don't ruin her!"
