Still Wanna Escape After Stealing My Heart? novel Chapter 194

Five years later.

The rays of setting sun in the evening shone on Sabrina's slim figure, coating her in the golden light. She was wearing an overall with safety helmet on her head, occupied in commanding the progress at the construction site.

"Madam Scott, I am amazed by just how effective your proposal is. Our expenses for this batch were significantly reduced in comparison to previous batches and the quality of the materials we are using are much better too. The configuration is simply far too thought-out to be sold at this price. I heard that a lot of the apartments had been sold to owners that had high praise for the design and materials," said the constructor gratefully to Sabrina.

"Manager Ward, you shouldn't have to call me that. I a m no professional architect. Just call me Sabrina." Sabrina smiled gently in return.

"Heavens no! Madam Scott, you might not have the title of an architect, but your abilities have spoken for itself and proven you more than worthy of the title. Everything that happens in this construction site is at your command," Manager Ward replied respectfully.

"It's fine," Sabrina replied modestly, "this is my job and...I love my job."

Sabrina looked up to the building before her that was t o be completed in no time and was overwhelmed with indescribable feelings. This was the job of her passion in this small county for four years and a half. Sabrina had secured a steady income working as the Engineer Support for an urban construction company. She had been travelling back and forth in between the office and the construction site. She was mainly responsible for budget calculation, adjustment, and oversaw the process of construction and configuration. Though she couldn't find a job that enabled her to be in the field of architectural design like she did back in the South City, she was earning ten thousand dollars a month, and that was more than sufficient to make ends meet. It might be slightly more demanding in stamina and physical strength, but it was a job that was related to contractions regardless and Sabrina was content with it. She wanted nothing more than to live her life in peace with her child and Zayn, with a job she is devoted to, away from the danger of assassination. 2

At around three in the afternoon, Sabrina returned to the office from the construction site. She set aside her safety helmet, gathered her belongings and rode her scooter home. The county was small and deserted, it would take approximately twenty minutes to travel from the East side of the city to the West on her scooter, and roughly fifteen minutes to get from her office to the small cottage that she was living in. The garden was filled with colorful flowers and vegetables that were bathing in sunlight. She pushed the fences open and parked her scooter before trekking down to a concrete platform, where Zayn, too, was enjoying his sunbath. 1 "Brother," she said, "it's time to go back into your room. Let me help you in."

Zayn slowly opened his eyes to look at Sabrina." Sabbie, I told you that you don't have to come home to tend to me and you just won't listen. What if this affects your work? I can move around in my own wheelchair." 1

Zayn's legs had been paralyzed and was living his life i n a wheelchair. Five years ago, they had been attacked once again when Sabrina's child turned six-month old. They had barely made it out alive and Zayn had lost his legs in the process. They then decided to move further into the outskirts of the country they were previously in. Those days had been difficult as Sabrina struggled to make ends meet with her child and a disabled brother. She worked as a dishwasher for shops and had even tried living in an abandoned temple where rain would leak through the ceiling. 1

Until one day, both Zayn and her child came down with a fever and were both in need of hospitalization, hence Sabrina was left with no choice but to accept a job that was usually meant for men at the construction site. It was two men's worth of work. She worked from five in the morning all the way till eleven at night every day. Despite the exhaustion and effort, she faced yet another crisis when the construction site was unable to deliver results due to issues with the quality of their work. It was precisely the moment when the Quality Control Department came for an investigation that Sabrina was capable of finding a way to correct what had gone wrong with her expertise in architecture. 1

The constructor and the investors were all impressed by her and had since found out that she used to design buildings. Half a year later, Sabrina became the one of the main pillars that support the community in this small piece of land, earning more than she could ask for that kept her child, Zayn and herself well-fed.

Sabrina and Zayn did not share a romantic relationship despite the time they spent together.
